Is Adidas hooking us up with new unis this year?

Nike probably thought Miami wasn't worth 90+ million. And then they fired Golden. And then they hired Richt.

No. As much as I dislike Shalala, there simply wasn't a choice after 58-0. Now, she'd probably have insisted on hiring another scrub. I think we can ALL agree her leaving happened at a great, great time.
Yeah, millions more into the athletic department made NO difference in how much we could pay a coaching staff. What world do some of you live in? If your household brought in an extra 100K a year, do you think it would make do difference in your spending habits?
With a final two of Edsall and Golden, we weren't offering the kind of money it would have taken to get Coach Richt back in 2010-2011. The Adidas contract helps with that.

You understand that we offered Folden way more than he deserved right? Then, we gave him a raise coming off a beatdown by a 2 win BC team.

We tried to hire Richt. Richt is a loyal guy, and he wasn't leaving UGA of his own volition. He turned UM down before we could get to numbers.

Remember that we also tried to hire Richt AFTER WE SIGNED WITH ADIDAS after we fired Folden. He turned us down that time too because he was loyal to UGA. So there goes your theory on Adidas.

Before we hired Folden, UM was also talking to Jon Gruden. There's no way you're in talks with Gruden not knowing you're going to have to pay him.

Is UF cheap and uncommitted to football because it hired Muschamp for a couple mill? Or how about when it hired Zook for cheap?

Sometimes, you're constrained by the available candidates when your job comes open.

This whole Adidas pulling the strings story is fable. They're not paying all that much more than Nike was paying per year. They have no say in anything.

@ Franchise: Bro, you're making too much sense. The storylines that some of these posters put up become truth on this board. Adidas had zero influence on this hire.

What world do you live in? Real simple question, I don't need an elaborate answer: If Shalala was still here, would Golden still be our coach, yes or no?

What's everyone's opinion on Adiddas view on us now that they loss UCLA to UA? That's a big market to lose from.

I agree. The only notable power 5 teams they sponsor now are Arizona St, Miss St, Nebraska, Texas A&M, NC State, Louiville and us. Hope they make us #1 priority because they need it.

Adidas and Nike are huge dogs in the gear world because of soccer. UA is fighting for scraps. I like our deal with Adidas because it does not have lots of other prime contracts. We are the one they have picked to be the center of attention. If the gear looks good, Miami-kids will love it and be pulled to the school.

Actually, that's exactly what happened. However, and everyone on here know I'm biased towards Nike; as I expressed to my frat, WE STARTED THIS WHOLE THING. I understand Phil is an OU alum, so yeah they're going to get laced, but we pioneered the whole apparel deal...we were their first baby...so just off loyalty alone, they couldn't at least make a competitive deal with some future incentives? Apart of me wish we never left based upon the gear we've received so far, but the other part is like, let's show them why they just made one of the worst business decisions by letting us walk.

Yeah, it kinda is what it is. Most of the college football world outside of a few people had written Miami off as a national contender. They assumed the administration didn't want to spend the kind of money required in big time football these days. Nike didn't see a reason to sink gobs of money into what looked like a perennial ACC also ran, so they balked when Adidas made a big offer. It's kind of an insult since Miami was the first school to sign a school wide apparel deal with them (or anybody). Can't do anything about it now but hopefully make them regret their decision.

adidas just lost UCLA to Under Armour. They have a lot of work to do because they are seeing their market share dwindle.

It'd be nice if adidas created some retro road whites for Miami to wear consistently on the road.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the fact that Adidas threw a bunch of money at us and we took it, or that we don't have to wear uniforms made by a company that primarily makes underwear.

I will say this... Adidas is a HUGE reason we could hire a coach like Mark Richt. For that reason alone, you won't hear me cry about uniforms for quite some time.

According to Ariz...this is not correct. So people need to stop making that connection. It is not true. Miami had the money all along.

Adidas is not doing well in North America at all...keeps slipping further and further behind UA and Nike.

I just hope that, once we start balling again, and it will happen, we escape this Adidas deal somehow and re-up with Nike for a much bigger deal. I am not digging the adidas gear at all. I know we won't entirely find out, but I would love to see the apparel revenues from our first year with adidas compared to the nike years. i know plenty of people (myself included) that will not buy a single piece of adidas gear. the tackiest and worst quality materials i've ever seen.

Spot on. I remember Michigan's apparel deal did not fare well retail wise. They lost, iirc, like 25% on the first couple of years. Just looking at the players still rocking their Nike gear is all you need to know.

Thank you; I don't know know y that narrative have become so popular like its facts or something.

i can almost guarantee (let's just use the all canes poll while the adidas deal was being negotiated; something like 90% of the fans polled preferred nike) that miami will not come close to matching their apparel revenues during the nike days. God how i long for our 2014 nike uni's...made the adidas 2015's look like optimist uni's.

Truth be told, I don't know why everyone was complaining about the 2014 jerseys. Besides that wack color combo in which Golden chose (Orange top, Green pants) the unis themselves were solid. They complained about the green lids, in which I had to remind folks that the green lids are throw back lids w an updated touch. Nike did us right w the throw back jerseys too back in 05.

Adidas focus is and will always be F*tbol. Like I told everyone, the moment that the NFL switched from Adidas to Nike, the apparel sales shot up by 500%. Watch what happens to the NBA after they make that switch, too. UT took less money to go w Nike b/c they wanted to rebrand itself, and they knew kids are Nike fans. UA was the switch we should've made to when we left Nike. You already have Reed and Lewis repped by them...that would've been a good look for us. As we can see, our practice jerseys are already de-lettering w Adidas and they have is looking like a high school team w MIAMI plastered in front of the jersey.

look at the quality of materials here:

Bruh, stitch patterns...embroidered logos...yeah...those jerseys were solid. Our favorite video clip is Duke and the other players going nuts over those new jerseys....what about the Adidas jerseys?? Not so much. Again, these cats r still wearing their old Nike gear during interviews. Enough said.
