Is A&M's loss a good thing for Miami?

It helps with a game plan. App St ran the ball 50 times with long slow drives. Seems to be a good fit for Gattis offense.
That's what I was going to say. App St showed a winning game plan, ball control. Gattis' game plan will be ball control with the majority of plays rushing. Canes roll.

Someone started a thread asking if this game was a must-win for Miami.

Well, it just became a must-win for aTm.

That doesn't mean they do win, but there's probably going to be some questions about whether Jimbo is the right guy for the job from those boosters that inked $30M in checks.

If we can get some fans their and represent, our players will play there best game. We cant loose, especially if we can get lose for some big plays.

Not good... Think this makes it bigger than Clemson game... 2 programs w/ upper-level coaches hoping to distinguish themselves... 2 programs pouring money into the organization and competing for similar recruits... ACC vs SEC... national recognition, season trajectory–this game is the biggest of the season. Clemson is Clemson and not many people will expect UM to win... W/ a loss to UM, A&M's end-of-season hopes are ruined, and w/ 1 loss to a top 3 Clemson, UM could be in playoff conversation (how crazy would that be).

I will gather it's a bad thing. They will go down in their ranking and now realize they can never take any team lightly. I'm sure their stadium will be rocking. THIS IS A MUST WIN PERIOD AND NO EXCUSES!

Whether or not they won or lost night, we still have Ivey which amounts to at least 6 points a game in liability. Coach needs to counter-blackmail Ivey. He can't be hanging the threat of releasing nudes on everyone over this program.

Our secret weapon is their field goal kicker. If we can stop them on 3rd downs we're winning the game. Caden Davis' inaccurate foot can also only reach 25 yards. Stop them on the our 26 and this dude is going to whiff.

Does the loss to App State deflate A&M or act as a motivator? Does it shake A&M's confidence and embolden UM? Is there more pressure now on A&M than on Miami to win the game?

My experience has been that being a victim of a mild or moderate upset upset angers and motivates a team. (witness Utah putting up 45 in the first half yesterday) ...but to a huge underdog (and at home ) often will shake a team so bad, they lose motivation.

What do y'all think, the A&M loss help or hurt our chances to beat them?

My call UM 27 A&M 21......saw alot of mental mistakes by A&M during crunch time, They are the ones who have to win our game and they did not look good under pressure yesterday. Couple that with a loss of confidence and I think it will be a tough day for A&M. Sure we have alot of pressure to win, but the loss takes away the cloak of invincibilty A&M has at home with the 12th man.

I would say yes. Shows they are beatable. Shows a game plan that beats them, A&M players probably down in the dumps this week, no game day anymore.

Allows Miami to strictly focus on the task at hand and not all the hoopla with game day. Crowd may not be as intense, if Miami jumps on them early the crowd and team may quit.

This is a golden opportunity for Miami and Mario. Hopefully they take Advantage of it. If they don’t, it will look like way worse of a lose job though on the flip side

Shouldn't matter either way. The last thing they want is to lose 2 in a row at home. They'll be as motivated as can be. But no reason why our motivation shouldn't be as high. We were sluggish as **** in that first half, TVD especially played poorly. This is a massive opportunity for a statement win for Mario and these players.

I say yes and no but make no mistake they will be ready for us.

I hope our coaches and players watched closely yesterday what App state did to them. Ran the ball and controlled the clock… we can do that with Parrish, Franklin and Rooster… set up screens and play action which Van Dyke is very good at. We don’t need to get cute or fancy

A&M quarterback isn’t mobile at all. We need our line to get after him quick
after yesterday, think Jimbo will play at least 2 maybe all 3 on roster. just a suspicion at this point but maybe JImbo caught lighting
in a bottle with Jamis and he's just an average HC ?.

I wouldn’t bet on this. Kickers never miss against us until I see otherwise lol.

It’s not bad. Lots for Jimbo to manage. Angry boosters and a bunch of players who probably think they should have bigger roles than they do. Possible QB controversy.

That’s a lot of distractions and I don’t see Jimbo as the guy who brings it all together and gets everybody refocused.

My guess? If things go poorly for them early, the team will implode.

They're going to come out like a bunch of rabid dogs. Hopefully we can fend them off or it'll be a feeding frenzy with us being ripped to shreds.

They should be fully motivated, us, I'm not so sure. I feel like the team got all giggity about the BC margin of victory and just felt like they could waltz into this last game and they'd lay down. Their heads got big, in particular the OL.

Guess we'll see, but I'm not buying us yet. That doesn't mean the future, as in a year or two is in doubt, but in the immediate there will be a lot of growing pains.

To the OP's question though, **** no it wasn't a good thing. You wanted them to waltz, but now they know they've got work to do.
