Are you insinuating Manny? See I think the difference is Manny took or was able to get more highly rated kids and they did not pan out. Yes that could be indictive of a bad eval, but I think was more so bad development/leadership (kids seemed to regress).I bet you that list stacks up with someone else you consider a bad evaluator.
Dude I just listed 60+ players. That’s more than bottom third. I didn’t even include guys that weren’t Miami caliber but played or started. His teams had vast depth issuesAre you insinuating Manny? A vast majority of the kids you listed were 3 stars or no stars and should not have amounted to anything. legit the bottom third of the recruiting class. Any coach's bottom third is likely not impressive. Some were even taken post signing day after we whiffed on everyone and we needed a warm body to fill out a practice squad. Some of the higher ranked kids were kids we KNEW would not qualify/major red flags but he would go the Dan Mullen route to boost a recruiting class score. No way people thought Derrick Griffen had the grades to get in.
I mentioned recruiting was one of his issues so he may have identified kids who he really liked, but did not get, then had to go to plan c or d guys. I doubt for example he thought Evan Shirreifs or Gray Crow were going to lead us to the promise land.
Basically does not make him a bad evaluator or developer but a bad recruiter.
Look at the 3 stars and lower he hit on (bold are NFL guys):
Rashawn Scott (.82 no national ranking at all)
Perryman
Eddie Johnson (.82 no national ranking at all)
Thurston Armbrister (not ranked at all or even a decimal)
Jake O'Donnell
LaDarius Gunter (.82)
Rayshawn Jenkins (.85 #842)
Herb Waters,
Danny Isidora
Gus Edwards (.85 #681)
Njoku (.84 #851)
Herndon (.85 #713)
Berrios
Redwine (.85 #735)
Mike Jackson (.86 # 572)
I mean, that is a lot of NFL talent for the bottom third of the recruiting classes.
Golden had so many misevaluations, its crazy to see all the short memories praising his evaluations just because Manny was horrendous.
His trench evals on both sides of the ball were devastatingly bad.
Jelani Hamilton
Jacoby Briscoe
LolIt’s clear that Manny and his staff sucked at talent evaluation and development (bedsides Banda)
Richt was past his prime and on his way to retirement
Golden was actually a real good talent evaluator
Not talking about his coaching.A lb coach by trade that can’t coach or evaluate lb’s is bad. He was a bad talent evaluator period…
It’s absolutely insane that canes fans are defending Golden. Dude was the king of taking players worse than Jags.Golden had so many misevaluations, its crazy to see all the short memories praising his evaluations just because Manny was horrendous.

Outside of linebacker who did he take that fans groaned about?
Troutman is the only guy in the 21 class that maybe wasn’t a take at the time on this board. Then in 2020, the only guy I can think of is Chris Washington. 2019 there is Holley, Eigammel who people were excited about at the time, and Peyton. This was minimal pushback on this board with the guys he was taking. We missed on big time guys but the dudes he signed no one moaned about except for the guys listed above.
My point is that he was a worse judge of character and developer than talent evaluator. Not saying much but it’s the reason there was/is such a cancerous culture in that locker room.
Ummm I beg your pardon Sir, please remove Darrel Langham from your list please. F’in LegendGolden had so many misevaluations, its crazy to see all the short memories praising his evaluations just because Manny was horrendous.

lol bruh you are just wrong on this one. Out of the "60" players bolded are players 4* or higher.Dude I just listed 60+ players. That’s more than bottom third. I didn’t even include guys that weren’t Miami caliber but played or started. His teams had vast depth issues
The board was legit drooling over huff, brooks, wilder, smith, and to a certain extent johnson.Avery Huff
Sam Brooks
Deandre Wilder
Waymon Steed
Keontra Smith
Tirek Austin Cave
Corey Flagg
Tyler Johnson
Deshawn Troutman
What are you talking about? You only see one questionable take from that group? Horrible evaluator talent man,
I might be wrong, but I feel like I remember it being Barrow pounding the table for Golden to offer Perryman at the last minute. Randy Shannon was like a fever dream to me at this point, so I have little recollection if he was after him at all or notWas Perryman a Shannon recruit or did Golden snag him when he was hired for the final couple of months before signing day 2011?
First, what you’re saying about drooling on most of those guys isn’t true. Second, Manny is paid to evaluate, not us…Results speak for themselves…The board was legit drooling over huff, brooks, wilder, smith, and to a certain extent johnson.
People knew what Flagg was coming out of high school. I really don’t remember how people felt about steed.
Folks were excited above Cave because he was legit murdering dudes on his film.
Again it’s just troutman. Go look through the old threads and look at the class player rankings that the writers of this site released at the time of these players signings.

Well…. Hire a Temple Coach…. expect Temple results.Between 2022-2023, there are only six.
That's Temple-like at best.
