Interesting stat regarding the NFL Combine

Golden had so many misevaluations, its crazy to see all the short memories praising his evaluations just because Manny was horrendous.

His trench evals on both sides of the ball were devastatingly bad.

Ufomba and Armbrister spent some time In the league

Quite a few were some knuckle heads like Blue and Olsen… or flat out never showed up like joe brown.

I get your point but not every recruiting class is a 100% hit rate… golden could recruit/identify kids as we seemed to be in on studs way early but they would ultimately de commit their JR/SR year … he couldn’t lock down this area as I don’t think coaches respected him…. But as others have said what doomed him to not even fuggging around with a 10 win season and spring boarding to his dream Penn state Job was his butt buddy Dorito

I get that richt left in late 2018 but we’ve turned the roster and staff over twice since then. It’s hard to gauge talent from two coaches ago with the portal era was my point .

The only players left from richts last class are Harvey and keontra smith right ? So I apologize for the hyperbole of saying all the players were long gone and I apologize for using the word hyperbole as I understand it probably gave you a headache sounding it out.

I didn’t say it was all on Diaz I said it was more indicative on Diaz because he flipped the roster and he utilized the portal heavily.

I guess if all of that makes no sense to you then I would have to wonder, “are you a little retarded?”
So just to clarify you still have no ******* clue what you are talking about. Solid porst fella.

Diaz wasn’t a bad talent evaluator in my opinion. Definitely wasn’t anything to write home about though. The majority of his takes outside of linebacker we all supported or understood if I remember correctly.

Where his shortcoming were was his inability to recruit/develop talented “professionals”. Wrong type of character dudes
A lb coach by trade that can’t coach or evaluate lb’s is bad. He was a bad talent evaluator period…

Yup. Golden was an absolute dumpster fire of a coach in every regard no matter how much some posters here, including a handful that were part of the Golden slurp squad on this board all the way through the very end of his tenure, want to rewrite history.

I looked at this list like: Not bad :monkey-serious:

Definite misses but some misfortune as well

Word.

Devils advocate though not every coach who ends up signing good players at the University of Miami is a great evaluator either.

I heard more people plaudit Golden's recruiting from Manny's tenure on than I did the entire time Golden coached here.

I may get flamed for this but Golden's issue IMO was not an eye for talent nor development. It was trying to turn Miami into Penn State and loyalty to coaches who had no business coaching with a system that was destined to fail with our players coupled with not wanting to play the local miami recruiting games.

I would be interested to see you do the same list with someone you do think was a good evaluator. I mean you may say Butch was the last good evaluator but the recruiting services are no where near what they are today. That is not taking anything from Butch just more difficult to compile such a list. Or look at Saban, do you think he is a good evaluator or simply is able to get the best kids year in and year out so when one 5* or high 4* "busts" it is not a black eye on a missed eval and instead someone new steps in.

Also need to throw in Golden was forced to find diamonds in the rough due to the sanction cloud for 3 years. I think your memory may be a little short in how bad that was. There was legit talk of a death penalty and I am sure even Mario would have a tough time recruiting against that to get the cream of the crop.

Golden had multiple faults but I actually think evals and development where part of his limited strong suits as oppose to liability.

Between 2017-2018, Miami had 18 players invited to the NFL combine. Between 2022-2023, there are only six.

We talk a lot about the drop off from elite Canes talent to the Shannon and Golden era. And that was indeed a massive drop. But there was another steep decline from that era to the Richt/Diaz years.

Richt was asleep from Nov-Feb every year he was here

I bet you that list stacks up with someone else you consider a bad evaluator.

Anybody that watched Miami play knew talent was an issue but also the lack of development of the talent that was here is just down right disgusting as well.
Hard to develop the few talented players when they play **** players every day

It's almost like the further away we get from our championship seasons, the worse players we get.
