Interesting new 3-2-6 defense

The "new" defense has been in place since the forward pass came into vogue.

Works best with hail mary situational football.

I would start Gurvan Hall and Derrick Smith at the traditional safety spots and have Romeo Finley playing rover / striker.

FS - Hall
SS - Smith
Rover - Finley
Nickel - Bandy
CB1 - Blades
CB2 - Ivey

MLB1 - Shaq
MLB2 - Pinckney

DT - Garvin
NT - Ford
DT - Bethel

The fact that the young guys cant beat him out is more alarming to me.

Lol the only ones that haven’t beaten him out yet is Keontra Smith bc hes just a freshman and Bubba Bolden bc he just got here.

This lineup being reported is only what the media was able to see... the staff is probably trying multiple possibilities to see what works and I doubt that Carter and Knowles on the field at the same time would be a starting rotation on any unit.

Two reasons you see a guy like Knowles getting reps with the 1s in practice.

1) He works extremely hard to overcome that he is not as athletic as the other safeties so he is compensating by more watching film and is better prepared than the others

2) the S&C program is paying off and he's become faster (not unheard of).

I was looking at his testing numbers:

4.81 40, maybe he shaved it down to 4.71. That might get him on the field in some situations.

But that shuttle time. Good God almighty. 5.41.
