Injuries…holler at me

All injuries are different. Sometimes the worst ones don't hurt. Case in point Thorton for KC yesterday. One of the most bizarre, if not the most bizzare, things I have ever seen on a football field. Dude dislocates his ankle, doesn't even know it, and gets up to celebrate. Then he realizes his foot is sideways. I feel awful for him man. But we really need to stop trying to determine injuries. Did we not learn last year when everyone determined that OJ tore his achilles against OSU?
Famously **** Butkus had a bad game, being late on most plays. Next day the coaches were reviewing film and noticed his foot was backwards. Sent the team doctor to his house and he said he noticed it hurt but felt better when he put his cowboy boots on after the game.

Is Damari Brown hurt or did the staff finally realize he isn’t good and bench him?
The fact 27 is getting burn now must mean Damari is finally done. U would think nickel would be his spot with his size and physicality

I think hurt... again... AR and D$ mentioned something about checking in on him on the pod but made no comments about when he got hurt, if he was hurt, but were talking like he got nicked up and didnt go back in the game.
Rewatched the first few series and keyed in on Blount. Man that dude is in some pain. He was a shell of himself against Clemson.
Yeah pretty sure it is an ankle with him. Big guy generating a lot of force and he is a guy who wins a lot with his motor. I think it was like FAMU or Central where got rolled up on, grabbed his ankle and since then has only played sparingly. Hopefully just a sprain that will be healed by FSU.

This is massive. Its not just one player that is the difference. This allows us to shift around our whole D back room.

CB: X and EOC
Nickel: JJ
S: Poyser and Bryce

That starting lineup is soooo much better than:

CB: Bryce and EOC
Nickel: Thornton
S: Poyser and JJ

Plus as far as matchups go you’d much rather have Lucas covering Robinson than Bryce or EOC

With the way our defense has been run this year it wouldnt shock me to see Bryce more at the nickel with JJ, Poyser and Omar rotating at S.

I like you think JJ could be a stud nickel and would close a lot of those blitzes Omar has missed on but idk if he is ready for that roll yet. Then with the above rotation, Omar comes down as your in the box safety to shrink the field for him, JJ comes in on more obvious passing downs.

Regardless, I agree with your point that it helps the defense. Whether it is having Bryce back at Nickel (where he played when Scott was out last year) or back at S is a huge help.

I agree, honestly if there is one kid I could get back out of everyone banged up, it's either OJ or Lucas. Not that the secondary is abysmal, but we have so many guys out that everyone is playing out of position. Just getting 1 true corner back to pair with EOC gives you a very formidable duo there, and then you can move Bryce back to his natural/best spot, then you can also rotate him down to Nickel and get Dunnigan reps at Safety, or Day, and you can get Thornton off the field in obvious passing situations, and you can spell Poyser at times.

These dudes are all playing out of position, at times, and playing way too many snaps.

Bryce and Thornton played 74 snaps, I believe that was every single play until the last drive of the game.
Poyser played 72
EOC played 66
Dylan Day played 54
Ryan Mack played 26
Dunnigan played 25 (heard he was nicked up)
Damari played 6

That is WAY too much with how much depth we have when everyone's healthy. Obviously it's out of necessity now, but just getting Lucas back, you can have him and EOC play 90% of the snaps, and either Mack or rotate Bryce to take some to give them a breather at corner.

You can get Bryce back at Safety and Nickel so Thornton isn't playing every single snap.

You can let Bryce play one Safety and Dunnigan play the other (or Day) to give Poyser some rest.

Just getting one chess piece back at corner unlocks so much of this secondary. I still can't wrap my mind around Bryce playing 74 snaps, I believe all at corner, and Ryan Mack playing 26 in a game against Clemson. Nothing against Mack, he played pretty well, but he wasn't on my bingo card in camp for getting 26 very meaningful snaps in Game 5 of the season. Pure insanity how decimated we are.
