Indiana cheating ?

Don’t buy this stuff. It’s just that every starter on the team is a 29 year old Mo Toure who has been with the same coach since the Persian gulf war.

**** Iowa got a 4th quarter pick and ran it to the IU 29 with 2:36 to go and the score tied 13-13. They ended up missing an easy FG and then gave up a 50 yd TD that put IU ahead.

Ohio St blew two chances to win. Should have taken the pts when in the 3rd quarter from the IU 5 instead of going for it. Would have been a tied game instead of down 3. And then missing the FG later to tie.

IU doesn’t have a magical luck machine but they certainly have gotten several bounces going their way.

If they had blown the doors of Ohio St, I’d be right with you saying “WTF is going on here.” Instead I see a well coached team that just makes fewer mistakes than its opponent. And when dealing with college kids that tend to do dumb things like false starts or late hits, that’s usually all the edge they need.

I mean you just need to watch Miami football for the last 20 years to see what happens when a vastly more talented team loses to a far less talented opponent due to self inflicted penalties. My guess is the talent difference between Middle Tennessee state and UM is a lot bigger than the talent difference between Oregon and Indiana. And MTSU blew the doors off UM in our own stadium.

And I know the counter argument is that those types of things might happen a couple times but not for 13 games. it didn’t happen for 13 games. IU feasted on G5 opponents and B1G floormats the bulk of the season, with the remainder being games where they had comparable talent (Iowa , Illinois) and maybe 3 opponents where they had a real talent disadvantage (OSU, Bama, Oregon. Not counting coachless PSU).

Indiana crushed Illinois- and at first glance it looks suspicious but then you see it was like the Ducks game- Illinois gave up a blocked punt TD, 4 sacks, multiple 30+ yard pass plays in the FIRST HALF and was down 35-10 at half time. They gave up. No cheating necessary.

Then they played Iowa and trailed in the 4th quarter. Traded INTs and then a Missed IOwa FG gave Indiana the chance to take the lead. No cheating needed there.

Then there was the 10 pt win against overrated Oregon. Oregon gets a pick 6 to tie it 20 all in the 4th quarter (even IU makes mistakes). Indiana engineers a 12 play 75 yd drive to take a TD lead. Cheating? Not any more than Beck driving Miami down the field against Ole ****. Moore is a vastly overrated QB, he then throws a pick on the next possession and IU closes it out. Again I don’t see any cheating required. Good coaching and discipline wins that game.

IU then plays a bunch of b1g tomato cans to close out the season until the B1G championship game. But in that run they still have to hang on by their fingernails to beat a PSU team without a HC. PSU ran for 118 yards on the IU defense.

We already talked about OSU and how OSU blew it. Bama didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs and we know all about the SEC living off bloated reputation. Oregon was another self destruction.

In the box score and on paper it all looks suspicious. But when you break down the games, I don’t see anything odd other than getting some lucky breaks like missed FGs and fumbles bouncing right back into their hands. That said- based on the missed FGs and lucky bounces- I can’t rule out the possibility they put magnets in the football.

That’s all fine and dandy, but they’re doing it with a squad that is basically James Madison with the number one draft Pick. It still doesn’t make any sense.

These "innovators"--like Gates, Cuban, Bezos, Altman, Thiel--are legitimately some of the worst, most ruthless "people" to ever life.

Ya know what helps, .. what tried and true things work? It ain’t technology. Ya send a coupla palooka wise guys over to see da Coach,.. Cignetti.. right? A Paisan.. right? And ya make him an offa. How could he refuse? If he still don’t get the message, his OC or DC goes AWOL or missing. Then on Sunday 1/18,.. after church… some fishes wrapped in newspaper of the Indiana Dailey Student shows up at their final walk thru practice. It could work, Ya know, I mean.

I mean, if it pays off in winning three straight games against much higher ranked opponents in the CFP and gets you to the NC game, then maybe the caveman shtick is a little overdone, no?

I don’t think so entirely based on his history - he went back to caveman in the middle of this season for god knows what reason and thankfully reset things - but I think he’s improved a lot and has made great strides being open to new ideas and going with what works so I’d say he’s less caveman now than he was.

A good coach takes what the other team gives him. If we win running the ball that’s fine. The thing I like about Mario is that he knows his limitations and is willing to do what it takes. Billy Napier insisted on being the OC. Fail. Al Golden insisted on D’No. Fail. Even Richt insisted on a faltering offense with Richt Jr in there. Fail. Love Richt but fail. Mario tried Gattis and failed and unlike the others at least he moved away from that and got to the point we’re at now.

A+ on both paragraphs. People need to read both of them again. Probably the last paragraph a few more.

And the first paragraph outlines what happened to change the entire dynamics of the game itself, requiring Oregon to have to ditch the game plan and enter Ketchup mode. It’s not sour grapes. It’s rotten tomatoes. 👀

Regarding the DB knowing the play, no.

Ball is snapped, corner is 7 yards off the ball, eyes on the QB, takes a few steps back and outside, Moore locks onto his receiver, never moves his eyes off of him, terrible stare down, corner sees all of this recognizing the play is coming there, and Moore throws the ball inside versus outside.

That isn't knowing the play, it's what every corner in the country is taught. It's also what every QB in the country is taught not to do. Throw it to the outside at the very least as the corner has to go through the receiver to get their hands on the ball to try and knock it down. 90 percent if the time, the corner accepts defeat and tries to just make a hit and wrap up.

I'm not dismissing the idea that something underhanded could go on, but that's as weak of a case as there is.

What I know is that Heatherman is obsessive about his signals being unbreakable. I've always wondered if there's a reason why... maybe he thinks there are certain coaches using unscrupulous practices? Anyhow, Heatherman changes in game at the slightest suspicion, and the code system is simple for the defense to adjust on the fly. In my mind, if there's something shady about Indiana, we won't be the ones to be surprised.
 
The fact that Catapult is a Mark Cuban firm, and that Cuban is basically underwriting Indiana's entire program, should be reason for Cristobal, Dawson, and Heatherman, to go through a complete signals change and go COMPLETE analog this entire week.

I do hope the playbook isn't online. I suspect my hope is forlorn, as most coaches these days store their stuff in the Cloud.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Alabama's and Oregon's entire play sheets were hacked and downloaded into an anonymous off-campus ISP by some grad assistant in Bloomington. Ours too.

NIL has made the stakes much higher.
