Inadvertent whistle

The thing that ticked me off about the "inadvertent whistle" is that everyone is quick to say that it "bailed" us out. That's BS, there were a couple of defenders there that STOPED PLAYING. Who's to say that ball doesn't get picked off......

This is the most poorly ran conference in all of college sports. The refs, the leadership, everything. I see every other conference look out for their top teams. We get the opposite treatment. Like the conferences wants to fail.

No because Miami’s DB could say, “I stopped paying when I heard the whistle” and use that as the excuse why the WR was open. You replay the down because players are trained to stop playing at the sound of a whistle ( see Lightfoot vs SMU).
 
The whistle is because the game is so enamored with protecting the QB.

Quick to call plays dead to protect the QB which sometimes hurts strong QBs like drones who shook off a few sacks

Having to stop VT 3 times on 4th and 1 was insane. I have NEVER seen officials stop play for a review and then let another play be ran and then go back to review the same play. The cherry on top is that they still completely blew the call of it being a catch that set up that 4th and 1. This conference can't die soon enough.

That was the first officiating break we’ve got all season. Everything else has went the other way. Including inadvertent whistles.

And Louis Riddick lost his ******* mind over it. He went on a 15 minute tirade about how bad of a call it was and how badly VT got screwed by it.
 
Riddick is really a moron. Guy goes from side to side giving out hand jobs all game. Relax, we know Miami’s d line is good, but they were average, by our standards, yesterday.
We know “there’s no quit in VT” we get it stfu.

If anything it was a break for VT because they got another shot at getting the first down

This! The kid caught the ball and all three Miami defenders stopped. He might of gained three yards after the catch if the play was live

Would be difficult to coach defense these days

We were always taught play through the whistle and never stop

Then you see Lightfoot get absolutely hosed on a game changing bull**** call and that’s common these days

So if you’re a defender going 1,000mph with targeting and all this unnecessary roughness ****…makes it tough ya know?

Now I’m just ranting

I think they were looking if Drones was down

Bad calls, taking way too much time to make decision, the inadvertent whistle, missed calls. That crew needs to be reviewed.

This. Watching in person was even worse. No context and VT’s scoreboard didn’t show anything that would hurt them. I’m rewatching the broadcast now, and from jump street, these refs were really **** bad.
