Your an Idiot...He was NOT the favorite....Jesus, stop it....He was an ******* at UM (I know Greg) and left to go to Rutgers after the 2000 season...didn't coach in Bowl game against Fl...My cousin was promoted to DC for the bowl game....Shiano was NOT the favorite to become UMs HC....

Ok Mr know it all, then who was the favorite and don’t even say butch because everyone knows he wasn’t considered a serious candidate by the admin and was well known here in south Florida that it was just a curtesy interview to shut up a faction of the fan base living in the past like YOU. So who was the favorite bud, since you “claim” to know so much?!

I’m talking about the team that beat Hawaii in 2008 but I guess they were technically the 2007 team. I believe they would’ve won a playoff system that year. Albeit there was not a dominant team that year.

Oh ok. Yea I remember that year. Probably. It was that season and the talent and potential for the next year that got them the number 1 preseason ranking in 2008 which then turned into Richt laying a egg with all those nfl players on that team. Smh

With Vilma on the selection committee (probably wrong choice of words) I’ve no doubt Butch was given serious consideration. Maybe he would have gotten the job had UGA not fired Richt.

I don’t know if Butch would have built a roster comparable to the 2000 team by his third season. I do believe the today’s team would be better overall. Butch would have been a better choice than Schiano, Mario, or some of the other options.

Butch has his flaws and probably would have lost games that would drive us crazy.

I guess we’re supposed to believe some idiot like you on this blog instead of Barry Jackson, Pete, manny, ITU and a bunch of other insiders/reporters with real connections at UM who all said schiano was the favorite and was about to be offered the job until Richt was fired huh? Man now I’m convinced your Butchs burner account, face facts old man, you had your chance here and you gave it up for the Browns and I don’t even really blame your *** because Paul D/admin was ******** you over on your new contract but YOU still made the choice to leave. I guess I have none. I thought it was well known Davis was beat out. I guess either my memory is foggy or I fell for the usual BS told in this board. So the question is why are all these recent posts about we should have hired Davis being floated as truth?

I was actually corrected, he sniffed it in 2002, 2007, 2012. How many coaches have him beat in that department? I can think of maybe 5. Like I said, I’m not happy either but there are definitely worse coaches out there, and he’s not as bad as some us are pretending he is.

While I don't doubt this is true, I'm also pretty sure the same was said about Al Golden before the Clemson beatdown. At some point, enough will be enough and they will cut their losses. It's up to Mark Richt to decide whether he adapts the offense into the current century or suffers the wrath of the fans.

I don’t really know. One poster told me Donna Shalala personally called the BOT and threatened to have billions in donations pulled away if Butch was hired. He was serious. That’s what we’ve come to. Fans posting on a team message board reflects today’s disregard for the truth and honesty.

Indeed the world we live in. We have Richt but thankfully we did not end up with Schiano. No way we end up with a IPF had he been selected. Atleast if Richt fails he got us an IPF that might attract a top notch coach. With a Schiano it would have been Golden 2.0.
