I’m not happy with him right now but your statement is just not accurate, he “sniffed” a championship twice and I don’t remember what year it was but it was the year that LSU beat Ohio State, if there was a playoff system that year, Georgia would have won it easy, instead they had to play Hawaii in the sugar bowl. He is definitely struggling as a playcaller but I think he’s a solid head coach.

UGA was 5 in that year prior to the bowl games. They would not have been chosen to be a playoff team that year if it existed. Tennesse blew UGA out that year and LSU stomped Tennessee. Add in the fact that Richt never wins big games his chances of winning against LSU that year are near 0.

They were 5th in the BCS standings which is the one that would actually matter. Did you actually watch UGA play that season? They were overrated as **** and got exposed to USCe and Tennessee that year. I am not saying well they lost to tenn so since LSU beat tenn they would win. I watched both teams play and anyone who wasn't a blind homer knew UGA did not deserve to be ranked 5th. That said OSU also would have bludgeoned them. No I mean what I have said. The guy has never won a "big game". The 2 SEC championships he won was in down years in the SEC and everyone knew the winner wouldn't go to the NC.

Problem is, unless we're getting 1 of maybe 5 coaches, (saban, les, Urban, Jimbo, or dabo) then there is noone left that meets the criteria. Guys like Patterson, Peterson, gundy, would not make the cut. People wanted Chip Kelly. Sorry wouldn't make the cut. People wanted a big name coach at a time when we were likely getting another unknown Al Golden. Richt's career is what it is. It was very successful at a time when the SEC was unbelievably good. It's obviously on the decline as his offense isn't keeping up with the times. Let's not make up narratives to justify a desire to move on.

While I don't doubt this is true, I'm also pretty sure the same was said about Al Golden before the Clemson beatdown. At some point, enough will be enough and they will cut their losses. It's up to Mark Richt to decide whether he adapts the offense into the current century or suffers the wrath of the fans.

It was. I remember the last gloating from the Folden Slurpers (including some media) right after Clemson, calling everyone who predicted/wanted him fired "stupid" because "He isn't going anywhere til 2016+"

when Richt was in process of being hired , one of roadblocks was money for staff. maybe Jon got hired because they
did not have enough $$$$$. top notch staffs cost money and great S & C cost money...... want to play at top levels
need to spend for staff.......... not sure we are spending for staff as of yet. credit Richt for going to AD and getting money for Dugans & Kool even though he left for Bama and monster $$$$$ & I cringe when i write this Searles as well
