I'll just leave this here...

What Mandel wrote is exactly my fear. I can see getting mad about the "thumping" part, but I also think who Miami has played and who FSU has played is something to seriously take into consideration.

The more I look closely at the stats, the more I don't like what I see.

That being said, I like the head to head matchups better this year than the last 2 years when we were right there with them.

If miami wins this game, his commentary will change to "FSU is down this year, that wasn't a test, they still shouldn't be in the top 10 because that wasn't a quality win"

Would that narrative be incorrect? Is FSU down this year?

It would be incorrect if uusing that narrative as a way to hate on good Miami is. Nobody is saying that about UNC even though they won on a fluke FG at the end and lost to UGa. So I don't want to hear **** about Miami being overrated bc FSU lost 2 already.

from Stewart Mandel-

If you expand to the Top 10, however, I do believe No. 10 Miami’s time there will be short-lived. I’m not sure what the ‘Canes have done to reach such a lofty status other than wear a “U” on their helmets. With all due respect to Mark Richt, his 4-0 team has beaten Florida A&M, FAU, Appalachian State and Georgia Tech. This week, though, it takes on Florida State, which may be 3-2 but has been tested plenty by facing Ole Miss, Louisville, USF and UNC. The ‘Noles should rebound and thump Miami, which has to then turn around and face the red-hot Tar Heels and visit Virginia Tech on a short week.

Need to blow up his twitter after game

No matter what anyone's opinion is up to this point the whole country will see exactly where we are as a program on Saturday night.FSU is not going to be an easy game and I hope people realize that.As long as we win I don't care what the score is or how we do it.We have to get over this hump and get the monkey off our backs.Rankings and opinions don't matter much to me.Just win.

It's not that FSU has lost a couple close games, and are better than their record. They got mudhole stomped by UL, and everyone else has moved the ball at will against them. They could just as easily be 2-3 as they could 4-1. Are they talented, yes. Are they incredibly undisciplined? **** yes. We have more than enough talent to expose their D, play after play. They are dangerous on O, but our D-line is superior to their O-line in every way.

So yes, they are battle tested. Problem is, they are getting their butts handed to them in those battles.

At this point I cannot hate on national media clowns for hating on UM. We've had a university president and administration that spent over a decade deconstructing the UM legacy. In their opinion, Humpty Dumpty cannot go back together again this quickly. It is what it is.

As for being top 10, I think we all should admit that beating FAMU, FAU, HillBilly State and Ga Tech is not really a great accomplishment. That said, if we win on Saturday, THEN I expect the national talking heads to start to see that UM has turned the corner and is truly headed in the right direction.

Absolutely, and the way the national media always measures Miami is asking "is the U back?". Of course we're not, we're back when we're two/three deep in every position and contending for national championships. We've got a long way to go. Don't expect the media to fawn over us while we make our ascent back. And once we do, stick to ignoring them anyways, they're talking out their *** 100% of the time they open their mouth.

Im actually on both sides of that opinion.... and Ive never run for office. :monkey-serious:

I agree that it would be an incorrect narrative for Stewart Mandel to use, given that he's picking FSU to "throttle" The Canes. That said, if (and WHEN) Miami wins this game, FSU will be 3-3 with one win against a non-FBS team and an embarrassing loss to Louisville. Im not sure it gives UM the marquee win that the national media will look for.

Now to those us who know, any time you beat FSU its a marquee win; For recruiting, for skool spirit, for momentum, etc... I just don't think we'll get that kind of appreciation from the national media for it. I see FSU as a 7-5 team this year. 8-4 at best, depending on how they do against uf.

Howie Mandel here exacerbates his Miami "takes" because Feldman co-hosts the podcast with him and Bruce is a Miami guy. Not always a Miami homer but an alum and a fan and Mandel obviously has to go overboard in the other direction.

There's always going to be a segment of the national media that wants to crap on Miami's achievements. Until/unless they beat Alabama by 50, there's always going to be a "who did they play?" narrative. Lots of members here (myself included) correctly predicted that the App State win would get reduced to a meaningless blowout even though there were plenty of national media members predicting a close game or even an App win. Prior to the Miami game, the national perception of App State was that of a mighty giant slayer. Capable of knocking off a power 5 opponent. After the Miami game, they've been reduced to a level similar to FAU.

Just 2 weeks ago appy state was on the same league as boise state when they had petersen because of tennethree. Funny how that narrative changes with these dykes

This. App St is a decent team who would beat teams like Duke , UVA ect. GT will win 8-9 games if you look at their schedule . **** GT scared me more then FSU does due to style. Is UM in the clemson , OSU and maybe Bama league? No but we are as good as teams like A&M , UW and Houston who are in the top 10 as well . IMO we go into the ACCTG with either 0-1 losses but then lose to Clemson by 10 or so . I will take that any day after the last 12 years of mediocrity.

Mandel has had a boner for ripping the Canes over the past 5 years. Take everything this idiot says with a grain of salt. I think he predicted FSU to make the playoff too... How's that call looking, Stewart?

He probably still thinks they will. That how smart he is.
