If not Butch, how about Chuck Pagano?

Pagano is making bank as DC for the Bears. The Bears love him as their DC and it is unlikely he would leave the NFL for all the crap that comes with College Coaching.
Miami would have to pay him a lot more than a piddly $4M a year.

At the end of the day, we will not be successful until we are willing to spend $$ for a HC + more $$ for assistant coaches. See LSU/Clemson/Alabama for the blueprint.

The kids we are getting are very athletic but for the most part not well coached or motivated in HS. The hypercompetitive types are all ready 5 stars and are going to Bama/OSU/Georgia/LSU. We need great coaching to get the athletically gifted but not as competitive kids (3-4 star types) motivated and able to play at a Championship level.

That is not happening currently by any stretch.

You are right. The reason this is the case, is because the University of Miami, not only has some of the most former Players in the NFL, they also have some of the most former coaches in the NFL. Pagano is a winner.

Chuck Pagano

Great defensive coach. Top three defense in the NFL while the DC for the Ravens. Doing great with the Bears now.

A Butch disciple.

Knows how to recognize talent. He was on Butch's staff that built the 2001 National Championship team. So, he is a good talent evaluator.

He was a Graduate Assistant at UM in 1986 with JJ, when Miami perhaps had their greatest team ever that lost to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Went 11-5 three years in a row as head coach of Indy, before he contracted cancer (and eventually beat it).

Knows what is involved about coaching at UM and knows the demands of the fan base.

Knows how to develop and "coach up" talent.

He's my cousin Faqquit...and took them to the playoffs twice...then Luck was hurt...that entire organization was poison...Druggy owner...and a GM who absolutely was Garbage...and snitched on the Pats too boot...Chuck was offered the UM HC position before Richt..and turned it down...he wants no part of UM...even though he Loves UM....

Oh, God. You’re claiming that Pagano is your cousin. And that he was offered the job before Richt.
