Mike Norvell is the new Dabo: the exception to the rule that our mouth-breathing fans think is the actual rule.

Also it’s hilarious to use Norvell as an example considering he’s actually a good offensive coach/playcaller.

Apathy is and has been the way. I won't believe it until it happens.

There's only been one thing the Cane's never fail to do over the past 20 years, and that is to disappoint. 9-4 would be improvement but it's like getting a C. You passed but there's so much room for improvement that anybody congratulating you almost feels like an insult.

Winning our last 3 games is the definition of "wishful thinking." Could it happen? Sure, but probabilities are funny in that way. Something that has less than a frozen chance in **** is still considered "possible."

Seasons over. I wont be excited no matter what happens. We wasted the best OL in a decade & a top notch defense. This should’ve been 9 wins minimum now that I’ve seen it play out.
Along with a killer recruiting class to really start building something special. Instead it just looks like taking 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

Angry, this offense is cheeks and wasted a masterclass season by Guidry. If Dawson is out at the end of the season too, then that is 2 failure OC hires by Mario. 0 optimism if Mario has 3 OCs in 3 years.
Our QB room is a mess too.
This! Word gets around and Mario may struggle to find a good OC. It may be his downfall along with no being able to recruit a good QB or talented skill positions on offense.

5-7 to 9-4 is definitive progress, no matter how much the women here would try to convince you otherwise.

Winning 9 in Year 2 isn't good enough, overall. But if you want to believe the program had to be torn completely to the studs and rebuilt from the first board, then going from 5 wins to 9 wins and being competitive in every game is certainly progress in that regard.

But then you better win 10 next year.
but Taking a 7-5 team down to 5-7 and then back up to 8-9 wins is still underperformance, as I think you were saying. I fully expect Mario to win a meaningless bowl game 20-17 and get the mob to lose their minds with off-season optimism

Yep, seems like no matter what we can never get out of our own way. If the offense is great our defense sucks (2020/2021). If the defense is great, our offense sucks (2018/2019).

Like why can’t we put together two competent units? Imma laugh when we land an all world QB in portal, have a top 15 offense only for Guidry to go to LSU and our next DC to stink. Because that’s what we do.

I just want one side be great and the other just be average at this point. However, like you said one side is great and the other side HAS to be terrible. Like 115th or worse in several categories bad.

It’s mind boggling. 2018 defense might’ve been the best cane defense since 2003.

Here’s the national ranks for that unit.
#3 in YPP
#1 in TFL per game
#4 in total yards allowed
#1 in passing yards allowed
#6 in first downs allowed
#4 in 3rd down conversions

We went 7-6.

With the offense averaging 21 PPG against P5 :u5pyxda:

Prayer on a wing here, if Dawson is gone, perhaps we bring in an OC who brings along a QB commit…okay, 86 that - that doesn’t happen to us.

Here's the deal. We have the talent at nearly every position to have been undefeated this season. TVD losing his marbles cost us. In retrospect, I wish he'd gone ahead and gone to Bama.

Should we end up 9-4 with a bowl win, in the big picture, that's a lot better than 5-7 last year without the bowl. It's still not where any of us want this program to truly be, but besides the obvious issues we know of (Mario's gameday ineptitude, TVD's fall from grace, Dawson's lack of creativity on O)...ending the season up like that would be improvement from last year. Sorry to be rational/reasonable, but it's true.

My stance would be wait and see for year 3. If we keep Guidry and Dawson as coordinators and there's minimal if any staff turnover, then that would help for continuity's sake. I'd like to wait and see also about if Dawson retools any of his offensive concepts to get more creative, and what kind of splash we are able to make at the end of this recruiting class including any portal additions that could be key.

Lots of moving parts to consider going into next season.

We will close out the season 3-0, then we will capitalize on that momentum by closing on a top 10 recruiting class/ #1 transfer portal class. After this happens we will return 90% of our current starters, go 15-0 to win our first national championship since I was in huggies.

-P.S hopefully LSU doesn't make a push to poach coach Guidry...

Mario isn't firing coach Dawson... He can't tell kids he is changing the culture and gaining stability within the program then go out and fire the 2nd OC in 2 years after 1 season(making that 3 OCs in 3 years).
