I was wrong

People had a little bit of a wrong POV about what happened post SMU as well

We looked like absolute *** against Syracuse the next week but our defense got a huge turnover right before half time

It was 0-0 most of the first half

The NCST game we started to click but then had an odd game against VT. Though we were down Scott and Thomas in that one

Anyway. We didn’t really put it all together until Pitt imo
The VT game was misleading. We dominated them but just got lazy and didn’t put the game away. You’re right that everything came together at Pitt.

All good and humility is the most admirable trait in a person.

Staff retention won’t be mentioned by many but that is the key. Haven’t had it here in my lifetime till now.
Probably going to be back to the drawing board after next year, though.

If we have another awesome season, I don’t see us keeping Dawson or Heatherman.

We may look back and say the smu loss was the best thing to happen for the program. If we play like we did to finish the year for the entirety of next year you can say it evolved him as a coach

Kudos to you.
There are probably 50-100 people on this chat board that dictate the conversation. There are ALOT more people that should come out and say they were wrong. BECAUSE they sure as **** weren't quiet when they thought they were right about Mario being unable to coach a game or lead a team.

Yeah we didn’t tackle well in that game at all

But Scott was out and we lost Thomas early IIRC so we were scrambling a bit with personnel and not having those two out there

yup , i saw him once at the electric factory in philadelphia where he jumped into the crowd and beat the **** out of a **** skinhead (vs a punk type skinhead), jump back on the stage, and finish the song as the band played on while the *** kicking commenced
Mike Ness is known for his dust ups.

Good solo career as well.

Yeah, the criticism mid season was warranted in the period between Louisville and SMU. Even @Pentagon Cane criticized him and he’s been solidly with Mario.

The thing is that after the SMU debacle, which is the rare game I think refs changed an outcome but anyway, we went back to what had worked and we took off. The criticism of that low period was justified and the praise since is justified as well.

I’m a Miami Hurricanes fan first and foremost and I’m not loyal to one coach or player. Call the good and the bad as it is.
Agreed.

There was this muppet who used to refer to Santo Mario as "Big Manny".

I took care of him at Titanic.

I’ll go to my grave believing the Mali to Beck throw back pass TD that game saved the season. The players started having fun again.

It sure is convenient to have all these receipts in one place for the next time things go a little sideways and the “fly the banners” crowd comes out.
I fully expect the ACc officials to continue to **** us at every turn and they will cost us a game or more next year like they always do. I'll have the Clemson game and the UNC game circled on the calendar for ****ery.

Kudos to you.

I was one of them. So happy to have been wrong. Have high, but measured hope, not mope for next year.

It took money above all. Mario here with 2020 money, he's a failure here like everyone else. Same old, same old, at President and AD. Of course, he wouldn't come back in that situation. He has addressed and answered every question as a coach with resources. 5 short months ago, few thought we were a 10 win team, many questioned the defensive hires. questioned if he was a playoff coach, questioned our QB, questioned both our DE's entering the season and more. Those cover almost all of our fanbase. Their are still that have no clue Beck is the 2nd best QB we have had here in over 25 years. He will most likely be drafted around the 3rd RD and fans will still talk silly. Like everyone, I was about as low as I could feel after SMU.
I was trying to tell ppl who doubted Mario that he only came here because he saw the vision of what Miami could be if we put a Bama/Uga level of importance/Money on football, this past year was just a glimpse of what’s to come as I feel he is still working out some Kinks, but make no mistake as long as Mario is here, we will compete for National titles, he’s willing to do any & everything in his power unlike past coaches here.

Its been a roller coaster of belief and doubt with me and mario lol, sometimes im all in and other times im done

This year he showed he can maximize the potential of a team, that’s all i needed to see

I'll admit it. I was down on Mario mid season. Questioning where we were going.

Looking at what he has built I was wrong.

There could not be a better coach for Miami.

The future is as bright as it has ever been.

Go Canes.
It’s all fleeting here , many here would still take Lane in a heartbeat and celebrate like the FAMU drum major with legs marching high kicks and head pulled back bent over in joy

It's a perfect marriage.

Mario doesn't come without the change in infrastructure. Infrastructure doesn't change without Mario.

There isn't a human on the planet who loves this program more than him. Not one singular person. It's his literal entire life. And he's good at what he does. I said at every turn, just let the man cook. Does that end with a parade at some point? I don't know. We got real close a couple weeks ago. Hopefully we do again, and it ends differently. But we sucked *** for literal decades. Not a few weeks, not a bad year or two....decades.

And now we've won 23 football games in the past 2 years when FSU and UiF have won 19, combined, between the two of them.

He has flaws. Not many coaches don't. But the positives outweigh the negatives, by far. We've been in every single game we've played in the last 30 of them. When's the last time that could be said about this program? I've gotten the **** kicked out of me by UNC, Kansas State, OU, Notre Dame, FSU...if there's an FBS program out there, I probably watched them throw the U down and embarrass me in the last 20 years. That **** stops now. We're not gonna win every single game we play, but we're done being a ******* embarrassment.

Thank you, Mario.

Same, but with one distinctive difference. There can always be a better coach for anywhere. I don't like how absolute those statements are since that means that said coach has no room for improvement or the team for that matter.

**** of a turnaround though for sure. Like most, I thought we were dead in the water, just treading above the surface middle of the season. Got back up and fought like **** through the rest of it they did.

First time I had real doubt was the SMU game, which I feel like is normal

Players get better with experience. Coaches do as well. It's a lot easier when they make their mistakes at other programs. Cristobal brings the recruits and the attitude. The key for him was getting the right coordinators/coaches and then letting them do their jobs.
