I think I see Richt's dilemma

How about land a qb each cycle, and play your best guy. If you have to go 8 n 4 with Jarren with flashes of brilliance so we can be legit contenders the next couple years, so be it. And let the others bolt if they get beat out.

It's Richts fault we are in this qb mess and getting out of it isn't looking promising if things keep going how they are now.

I can’t believe guys were defending not going after a 2019 QB b/c Richt said so. Here’s the other dilemma; if Williams starts next year, both NKosi and Cade can bounce and we’ll be in the same situation, regardless.

This staff and their decisions makes no sense.

I think Richt is going to be the Buck Showalter of college football. Great manager, gets a team going in the right direction, can't win a championship, gets replaced, next guy wins championship the following season. I have no doubt that Richt will refill the cupboard by year 5 and Miami will have very good to excellent talent at every position. He won't have all elite talent, but you don't have to be elite everywhere to win a ring if the rest of the team is very good.

Year six Miami brings in an innovative coach, who runs a high tempo spread offense. Miami speed blows teams off the field. New coach lands 1-2 elite kids (kind that will takeover a game), and he wins multiple rings with Richt's players. Williams will be a RS Junior year 6 and will be a Heisman candidate.

Long story short, I've come to terms that Richt is the coach we need at the moment, but I've made peace with the fact that he isn't winning a ring. That's doesn't mean we made a bad hire, because the next guy will be inheriting a loaded team thanks to Richt and we get number 6&7.

If that's the dilemma than they are ******** up big time by not recruiting a QB this year.

Let's say the scenario you describe plays out and you get Williams starting next year, thus Weldon and Perry transfer. After that we are left with just Williams and whoever we recruit in 2020. Horrible roster management.

Anyways, it's a myth that Williams is the "hand picked" QB of the Richts. They actually picked Sitkowski and that was who we recruited the majority of the year. They lucked into Williams, it's not like they had him as their #1 the entire time.

****! What a great comparison

Start Jarren now if he is the best option for winning now and recruit two QBs this cycle. The best players should play regardless if seniority.

That will be nobody's fault but his. He's been here 3 years and haven't sought out any grad transfers

Hi couldn't satisfy a fan base that had no idea what great football looked like and no taste for titles, now he is home with fans who grew use to the finest surf and turf served by topless hot chicks. He knows he can't cut it but couldn't say no.

Richt is who he is 9-10 wins all the time.....its way better then what we had but after it becomes the normal the fan base will want more because the expectations here are like bama we want titles. If Malik is starting now still then his qb evals have alot to be desired if he cant put someone better on the field......unless these guys are getting in trouble off of it and he cant put them in.

Just how many coaches out there do better than “9-10 wins all the time”?

Not alot but its the U.....thats what makes the difference. If we were all fans of rutgers maryland or some bs program then ok. This is the U

Im not blaming Perry all the much on Jon Richt. he was overhyped on this board. He was raw and played weak competition. nothing in his highlight tape said college ready.

I haven’t bothered to read everything in this thread, but if Richt is playing out what-if scenarios against himself, rather than playing the best QB for the job regardless of age, we are ****ed

I’ve tried to rationalize it, but come to grips with, none of my posts mater between now and FSU.

Rick's real dilemma is that Perry isn't who they thought he was/they haven't been able to develop him into what they wanted him to be by now.

Yeah, well...I'm starting to wonder what a real OC could do with Perry and Weldon.

Richt is like a different dude since he whiffed on Watson at UGA after slow rolling him early on. He wants to be the the RPO guy with the dual guys...but is it really his thing?

Starting to think that Richt is making this thing a little more complicated than his experience with this set.

That's a fair question. I'm not sure the RPO is a sign of Rick ACTUALLY evolving with the supposed trends in the college game or if it's just how he thinks he SHOULD BE evolving.

I gotta wonder what this offense would look like if a Matt Stafford type fell into his lap.

I considered this before I began my anti-Malik campaign. At first it was my thinking as well. BUT if those guys are that quick to transfer because they weren't named the starter, Richt would simply be delaying the inevitable. There is nothing preventing them from transferring days before the 2019 season begins, just like the two QBs at LSU did.

WHEN he names his starter is irrelevant to them transferring. If they're going to transfer, they're going to regardless.

This.

Do what’s right, let guys do what’s right for them, and find the pieces to make things work along the way. Enough hand wringing about what ifs. Give me a team NOW that doesn’t **** itself on national TV and doesn’t have star players getting benched for merely holding their team mate accountable. What happens if a guy transfers after getting beat out for the job is FAAAAAR lower on the list of concerns.

Fvck.

I agree with everything you said...except for the 8-4 stuff....*** 8-4...I don't ever want to go back!
