I see reasons for hope

I'm playing devils advocate but how many times have we said that only for guys to still leave? Whether he leaves now, or in a year, he will still be a considered a tweener to many. He is an edge all the way on the next level but that's a conversation for the next day. My point was, say he finishes the year with 10 sacks...stock will likely be very high and we have seen that story too many times here. I obviously want him to come back, but I think it's worth discussion since he is playing at a high level.
I think with NIL guys that will be 5-7th rounders will stick around more often. Which is where I see him going.

Obviously, the penalties and the OL are certainly areas for concern, but that's all fixable stuff. The biggest thing is that I see improvements in all three phases.

I believe MC will get our guys to be more disciplined and we'll go back to having fewer penalties, but I do see things improving.

Some positives:
  • We finally have a stud #1 WR in Young. They need to feed the ball to that young man.
  • TVD is finally back and seems to have come to a peace with this new system. He looks like last year's TVD.
  • Mallory is finally playing the way we thought he would. Hopefully the injury won't keep him out of the Duke game.
  • Don't know why it took this long, but the coaches are finally putting athletes in to return the ball, especially on punts. Having Smith back to return punts is waaaaay overdue and I wouldn't be surprised if we see him take one or two back this year. We have to put difference makers in as many positions to make a difference as possible.
  • Once we get some guys back on the OL, we might be a dangerous team.
  • The coaching on the DL is really starting to show. That DL is getting pressure and sacks. More INT's will come with their pressure.
  • After the MTSU debacle, it looks like Steele has the D playing better overall.
  • If we continue to show improvement through the year and we get some kids back from injury, we could become that team that no top team wants to play (cough-Clemson-cough).
Show improvement every week and the majority of us will hang with Coach MC.

I see they are suckering you in again huh?

This is Mesidor’s 3rd year…are we to assume he is for sure leaving? 5 sacks thus far at the half way mark.

Regrettably

He’s playing like it’s a contract year. Putting good things on film & will feast on ACC garbage going forward if healthy.

I agree with the offense part. But a lot of teams and coaches look better their second year.

We look worse temporarily I agree, but in the long run I think we’ll come out looking much better.

I just think being in a system for almost 2 years means a lot. **** a lot of our players probably still don’t even know all the playbook.
If they don’t know the playbook it’s on the coaches. Being “multiple” in college is dumb.

I think you are dreaming of unicorns and rainbows.
We will be lucky to split remaining games
We just scored 20 against ****** tech
After 24 last week against horrendous UNC defense
We don’t have a good enough QB that can carry team and make everything easy and we sure as **** don’t have enough weapons inngeneral
Everything is HARD, nothing comes easy

That’s a tough way to win week in week out imo
You crack me up! Unicorns and rainbows...

Watch how Tennessee plays and how we play. Heupel vs Mario.

Still think there is hope?
100% I am encouraged by what I saw today because I see the beginnings of the turnaround. Is it as fast as my #1 choice would've been...? No. But, I do think that what Mario will do here will eventually put us back into the elite group and build us to stay there.

You must be an eternal optimist. We are back in the Stone Age of football.

It’s so depressing bc the Heupel offense is made for Miami and we hired a blockhead Neanderthal who can’t stop talking about “knocking them back”

496 yds passing vs UNC 24 pts
350 yds passing vs VT 20 pts

Offense its dysfunctional still

This offense reminds me of a baseball team that gets 15 hits and 6 walks every game but only scores 2-3 runs cause they can’t finish the rally with a hit and leave 10+ runners on base every game……This team will wear out between the 20’s only to stall or end up with a FG attempt.

Good teams finish drives and when they have 500 yds of offense they score 40-45 points not 20-25 ….offense is moving…just not finishing..

Vag Tech is godawful. I'm hard pressed to take anything away from this game and don't think we necessarily should just because we lost to SW Muddle Tennessea Tech.

Most of us that aren't mopes are riding with Mario, he has a track record of success, and most of us realize that years of incompetence wasn't going to be fixed in one offseason. What we want to see going forward is improvement, especially as guys get healthy and the youngsters develop.

He was my #2 choice and I'm riding with him. I believe he'll eventually get us turned around.
