I really hope we get someone tough for our bowl game

Doesn't the OB have to take an ACC team? Then most likely the only available ACC team with less than 4 losses will be Wake who will have 3 losses so not a big difference. VT/UVA already have 3 losses. One has to lose to the other and the one that wins will lose to Clemson. Pitt will lose again as well
Yes, I was wrong. I thought if ACC champion went to playoff the OB committee had some leniency and could take an at large. But they are stuck with the next highest ranked ACC team in the final playoff committees poll on 12/8. That can be us at 8-4 ranked 23-25th. Wake and VT look to be our biggest threats for that.

Early projections have us in Music City Bowl against Kentucky or Missouri. I'd have to think that'll change if we can win the last two games. A game in Orlando would be nice.

Actually we may go to the outback in tampa. If the big 10 gets the orange bowl the acc gets the outback.

I'm thinking if Notre dame loses 1 more time we could face them.

For the last umpteen years, I've just been hoping for an underserved win, but the way we're playing and with a (hopefully) 8-4 record, I'd like the toughest possible opponent they're willing to give a rising 8-4 runner up in the Coastal. Love to take on Wisky one more time, but there's no way they'll do it.

Maybe a resurgent or trying to resurge power like USCw. Already looking forward to a bowl W and an exciting offseason!
I want the Gata!!! Efff them!

Go Canes!!!!!

Assuming the team is indeed improving, and wins the final two, the ideal matchup is a Big12 opponent in Orlando. It’s not a coincidence that our lone bowl win in ages came in the same scenario.

We want a power 5 team that’s not particularly strong on either LOS but has enough talent for a win to be considered respectable.

I think that’s Texas. They will likely be 9-3/8-4, and the brand recognition/National perception is still that they’re a top-25ish team due to last year. But they’re very flawed and would be very beatable if this is like 2016 where we legitimately improved at the end of the year. It would also easily be one of the most watched non-New years bowl games and the attendance would be great. Failing at drawing Texas though, okie State or Kansas State would also be a good matchup or even Baylor. The only one I’d rather avoid is Iowa State.

Finishing on a winning streak and a bowl win would give us some hype going into ‘20 and put us in a position to build some recruiting momentum (Lord knows this staff needs it).

Would love to play UT. Their defense is porous, they don’t tackle well and although their offense is potent I feel we can slow them down enough. I know a ton of UT grads/fans, would be love to see us stomp them.

Yes, that type of projection assumes we lose to Duke. We will be an underdog, so it wouldn't be a shock, but if we win the next two games we will get a shot at a better bowl.

Assuming we look decent against FIU, we aren’t going to be dogs to this Duke team. They’re falling apart, and they’re not a good home team under Cutcliffe either.

You may be right, it'll depend on how we look and how they look the next couple games. Hopefully they won't need to beat us to be bowl eligible. That'll obviously motivate them and factor into the line.

The game with Duke will set up our Bowl opponent, and lead into the 2020 pre season polls.....
Got to set the tone for the Canes in 2020 early with a convincing win of a top 25 opponent.
