I really hope we get someone tough for our bowl game

Would love to see that. Only way I see that happening is if we win the ACC. I know the OB committee wants to get a matchup that sells out and gets attention but they'd get a lot of sh#t for taking an 8-4 team.

If it's Clemson and a bunch of 8-4 teams in the ACC, they wouldn't have a choice.

I think they do have a choice at that point. I believe they can take an at large or ND.

No, they don't. They must take an ACC team and our opponent should be the highest ranked non-champion SEC/Big 10 team available or ND. Unfortunately, Alabama getting bumped out of the CFP would likely push Georgia to the OB over Florida.

per ACC’s website

The Capital One Orange Bowl will host the ACC Champion (or highest ranked ACC team not ranked in the top four against the highest ranked available team from the Big Ten, SEC or Notre Dame following team selection by the Rose (Big Ten) and Sugar (SEC) bowls.

I was wrong on the at large or ND part but we’d need to be ranked higher than Wake Forest. Wonder what the criteria is if neither of us is ranked.

Have heard Texas in Orlando is current projection ... anyone confirm likelihood ?
Would love that matchup, Herman drops the ball all the time in big games & their Defense is ***.

They have a very good passing Offense though, like one of the best in the nation & if Duvernay doesn't sit out for the bowl game he would be a nightmare to contain.

I'd still like our chances though.

Lol, I know that's what I said.

I'm not sure what would happen though of there are no ranked teams, somehow I think the CFP committee would rank one of us so it wouldn't get to that point.

Herman has won all 3 of his bowl games so far, including two NY6 bowls. If we beat him in a bowl, it would be the first time anyone's done so.

Notre Dame is eligible for any ACC bowl tie-in as long as it’s within one game of the team eligible for the slot.
Again, normally the top available ACC team goes to the Orange Bowl, but there’s no direct tie-in this year since it’s a College Football Playoff semifinal.
