Rumors aside, if we get a new AD I think the rules of when to fire a coach are thrown out the window. You have a hall pass to clean house when you first come in, regardless of the current product. You can just say we're going in a different direction.

Honestly, there's a situation where this works out for everyone. Miami can "part ways" with Diaz under the guise of new AD leadership and if Manny does win out the rest of the season he can leverage that into a new HC job, I'm sure. If the messaging is handled well it can be much less of a distraction.
