I’ve always wondered this, but never heard anyone talk about it!

Honestly I think a three peat was very possible with BD as that '03 team was still formidable. Unfortunately, the cheating the NCAA allowed Alabama to get away with would catch up to Miami. I still think Miami is a top 10-15 team regardless.

Is this the point where I claim the Canes would be celebrating their 21st national championship with the next banner ceremony taking place at Butch Davis Stadium in August? Butch Davis Stadium being on-campus, of course.

Was Gore back and available for the Fiesta Bowl? I thought he was still recovering from his knee injury.
 
Butch will always be under appreciated for his role in bringing Miami back !
he left for 15m$ , ok but where President, AD, BOT missed the boat was in not hiring Butch and giving the job to Diaz........ what a mess Mario had to clean up

Don’t remember all the details but Butch never offered Gore. It wasn’t until Coker took over that Gore got his offer. Pretty sure it was something similar with Roscoe Parrish.

Better record but at the end of his tenure that we’ll oil machine was ****, while Butch came in and turn that **** into a well oiled machine. It’s levels to this.
