I’m gonna say it, Homer is a better back...

I agree but that doesn't mean Walton isn't really good. What I want to know is why did Richt not sit Walton and let him get healthy when Homer can clearly carry the load?

because thomas brown was in love with mark walton to much clear to see

Homer at 100% is easily much better than Walton at 100%.

Walton will be the backup RB at best next year.

Homer is clearly a far more explosive athlete and has some nice moves as well.

You guys are crazy. Walton was 1000 yd back last year and on his way again before he got injured. GTFOH Walton would start for 99% of any team in the nation, If not 100%... For those doubters name me better backs in college? Only a few will come to mind and even those are debatable.

No he would not start for 99% of teams in the nation.

You want names.

1. Saquon Barkley
2. Bo Scarborough
3. Damien Jarris8
4. Derrius Guide
5. Royce Freeman
6. Nick Chubb
7. Myles Gaskin
8. Ronald Jones.
9. Mike Weber
10. Mark Walton

Also Walton had 5.3 ypc the year before.

Ronald Jones isn't even the best RB on his team

The freshman Carr is

Travis homer got the potential and now the opportunity to prove that he's better than Mark Walton, starting last game.

What I will say is that Homer is a touch more patient behind his blockers than Walton is. We'll see what that means - if anything - in the next few games.

Next season a Mark Walton and Travis Homer duo would be the best 1-2 punch in college football.

Not sure about that, but Homer-Walton-Lingard might be the best trio.

Although Walton may very well decide to leave after this year.

You qualified it with the phrase, "in this offense".

Who is the "better" back—hard to say as they both check off different boxes. Walton's breakaway speed, elusiveness and Alpha-male / leadership qualities—but Homer is a tough-*** runner, is more durable, harder to bring down, etc.

A shame we don't have them as a 1-2 punch anymore this season, but there doesn't seem to be a dropoff from Walton to Homer—and Homer's durability is very necessary down the stretch.

Walton, runs around dudes, and Homer runs through dudes. I think they are both equally as good just totally different styles of running. Would have to give a small edge to Walton for catching balls out of the backfield.

Another example Homer had 3 carries for 29 yards against FSU , Walton 12 for 25 . Big defense who averaged more ? Almost 10 a carry for Travis

In his 3 carries against FSU, Homer had more success running then we've had since Duke Johnson. Walton Jr. and Yearby did nothing.

Walton just stutters too much he wouldnt have got some of those runs Homer did but he also can make something of nothing which homer still needs to learn

Yeah what's funny is Homer still looks great even against p5 competition which Walton's number took a huge hit. Let's see if homer can keep it up

One thing guaranteed about this fan base (and maybe every fan base) is that they will always err to the side of wishful thinking.

The biggest difference between the two is athleticism and explosiveness. Homer is much faster, better acceleration, and more powerful. Just more explosive all around. Walton plows into guys where Homer seems to explode into them. Walton might have more vision and better RB skills, but is just not enough of an explosive athlete needed to be a top level RB.

In this offense.

Put the glue down immediately and get some help. Walton is an elite back and was the focal point of our offense. Walton had a temendous year last year and was on his way to another great year this year. Homer is a very good back based on his small sample size so we will have to wait and see how he develops. But Walton was/is the heart and soul of our team. It's funny how some people just annoint the next guy better and forget what the previous player has done for our team and how hard they have worked to get to where they are. I think Homer looks very good but if both were healthy, I'd have to give the nod to Walton and increase Homer's touches. But I am not the Coach and don't claim to be.

Despite the often over the top praise from his coaches, Walton Jr. is either not an elite back, or hadn't shown it to this point. He did not have a tremendous year last year. He had one very good game against NC State, and had one great run against FSU that didn't count. Other than that, his freshmen year was basically a wash out, then last year he feasted on the dregs of the schedule, and was completely mediocre for half the season against good competition. This season he feasted on non P5 opponents, then got hurt.

In one start, Homer has matched Walton Jr.'s career total of impressive performances. Too soon to know if Homer is "elite." Not too soon to know that Walton Jr.'s body of work is not elite.

A healthy Mark Walton wouldve ran all over GT as well. Travis Homer had the benefit of surprise we'll see if he can continue to make big plays now that teams are going to n keying in on him.

Maybe, maybe not. His track record against solid P5 defenses is mediocre. Homer had no benefit of surprise. GT knew he was the key RB.
