Travis homer got the potential and now the opportunity to prove that he's better than Mark Walton, starting last game.
Yeah what's funny is Homer still looks great even against p5 competition which Walton's number took a huge hit. Let's see if homer can keep it up
A healthy Mark Walton wouldve ran all over GT as well. Travis Homer had the benefit of surprise we'll see if he can continue to make big plays now that teams are going to n keying in on him.
Maybe, maybe not. His track record against solid P5 defenses is mediocre. Homer had no benefit of surprise. GT knew he was the key RB.

It's a given that Mark Walton would've ran all over GT. Theyre an easy team to beat in the run game.
How can you compare anything before this year like the circumstances where the same??
They knew Homer was the rb but definitely weren't planning for him like he could have that level of impact. I'm sure they thought the run game would fall off without Walton playing.
Your first sentence fits homer. They are very similar players because homer will go down and hit you on special teams too and could have played db as well. Homer just is a better athlete and fasterWalton is more of a pure football player, you could put him at safety and corner and he'd excel. That being said as a running back Walton is more shifty, more patient as a runner and let's the play develop, he is more of a zone runner I.E. (Bell from the Steelers or one of our own Frank Gore) I think Walton might be tougher to take down, as he has better balance. On the other Homer is more of a slasher, kind of the opposite of Walton. Homer has another gear that Walton does not have, he reaches the second level in a blur if he has a hole and can out run the secondary, his running style reminds me of Portis. While he's not as shifty as Walton he can make people miss in open space.

Homer has broken 17 tackles on 51 carries thus far.
He is #2 RB in the ACC in elusiveness rating.
Awesome start to his career.
I would have to agree, but to be fair to Walton, it's been a while now since I've seen the guy play at 100%. I like Homer's running style a lot for this offense....I wanted to see more of him spelling Walton even before the injury.
I watched the extended GT highlights on Youtube. Wow, I am even more impressed. From where I was sitting, I wasn't even seeing some of the things he was doing.
It was weird to watch. They were seemingly terrified of getting beat over the top. I'm not a huge fan of the bubble, but thought it was there almost all game. Their approach almost worked out for them, though. If I were them, I'd have taken my chances against Rosier's downfield accuracy a bit more often. They picked the other poison and we finally started gashing them. But I do want to point out one little detail. As much as folks on this board like to rag Richt for his vertical passing concepts, he basically eliminated Tech's secondary on running plays. Homer was consistently facing 6 man boxes. That makes a **** of a difference.
In this offense.

Homer is faster, but I'm not sure if he'd have the hip flex to play DB, maybe safety, but you can tell Walton is more fluid not by a lot though.
Held at the North Miami Athletic Complex, the 5’10”, 196-pound running back posted a SPARQ overall rating of 116.04. That’s good enough for No. 3 overall in the nation – at least for now.
Homer garnered marks of 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 4.35 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle, 37.8 inches in the vertical leap and 39.5 inches inter power ball throw. His peak power was marked at 7,780 watts.
