I’m down bad fellas. Just brutal.

I traveled to every playoff game on this magical run. We were in so may nailbiter games. Since December 19 it’s been a month full of constant travel and anxiety and we kept coming out on the winning end. Just brutal to come up short after all of it. Still laying in bed. Just soul crushing.

Given the playoff format it seems impossible to go through another 3 game gauntlet to get back to this game. Maybe that’s because we have sucked the past 20 years so it feels improbable that we can do this again? I suppose if Mario really is turning us into a monster then we should make it back the way Alabama and Georgia are always getting to this game in the past.

Just had to type all of this out and vent.

Someone help me get out of bed and convince me we can get back to this game again.
This 12 team playoff is a slog. I can't imagine expanding it. We just played number 1, 2, 6, 7 consecutively, after the regular season. That is just unbelievably taxing. **** I'm not even chomping at the bit for Spring like I used to. Just need to get back down to neutral. For all you guys who attended all the games, hats off to you. That defeat was even harder on you. We have a great foundation and will make another run!

I will get blasted for this by some that may not understand, but here goes . . . I just like most of you are feeling like crap today. I've been a Canes fan ever since they beat Nebraska in the OB in '83. I was 14 at the time. I had next door neighbors that were huge Nebraska fans. One of their uncles played there. Anyway, being young and dumb I liked the name Hurricanes and the fact that they didn't stand a chance against that team, then they won. That time line lets you know that I've had to suffer thru the loses to Pedo St, Alabama, and the "infamous flag" game vs o$u. All NC games. Losing to ND on the TD that was ruled a fumble. Costing us a trip the NC game. How about the BCS bull$$it that cost us in 2000? Howard leaving, Jimmy leaving, probation, and Butch finally getting it going again, only to leave because we were too **** cheap to "pay that man his money". Some of us have had to suffer thru all that. I am NOT SAYING you are not a fan if you're not an oldie like me. This time it feels like the Butch days. We are built for the long term with a coach that can recruit his a&& off and knows how to build a roster. I also don't believe Mario will ever leave unless he's fired. Now that I understand football more. Culture and following the process are what keeps programs going. Mario will always get us talent and we have money to spend. I fully believe we will be back in the championship game again and very very soon. People say we're not back . . . to that I say bull$$it . . . I agree with Mario . . . we're here now and not going anywhere. Lick your wounds boys, get ready for some great portal news, we are here to stay for the long haul. It's GREAT to be a Miami Hurricane fan.

Watching the pregame, watching teams walk into locker rooms from buses, and watching their coach (won't write his name) and Coach Mario, I knew we were going to lose. It really was too good to be true for Miami. Mendoza's revenge, Miami kid wanting to play for Miami and never getting the call. His family's unfortunate situation, everything pointing for an Indiana win and this being the "feel good" story for ages. I am happy for Mendoza and his family, but that is all.

This was not a college national championship, this was a Super Bowl. I think we would have won this game if it had been played in another city. Miami looked nervous and overwhelmed. Players of college teams always say away games are easier than home games. The chaotic atmosphere during pregame with all celebrities, former players, etc.. Didn't see much of this on Indiana's sideline, because they didn't have any football history, until now, that we provided. Their coach was confident and smirky. He knew. When Miami did not score on the first drive, I stopped watching.

Most likely, Miami will never have an opportunity to play on their home turf for a national championship. Miami coaching staff and players, blew their opportunity. Embarrassing to lose on your home field. I will miss these players on this team because they are kids who really wanted to bring make Miami back to greatness. Miami is not back, until Miami wins a national championship. No, I am not going to say "great season." Scores determine great seasons. I ask the question, what has Coach Mario ever won? All the people who hate Miami are overjoyed.......again. I guess we are back in that scenario.

I have already renewed my season tickets for next year, as I have every season since 1992. I am not a "hater" (do the kids still say "hater"?) Have never sold my tickets or parking pass to someone else if I cannot attend a game, I give my tickets to someone who loves Miami Hurricanes and who never gets to attend a game. The feeling after a game like this is absolutely awful. Especially, we had everything set up for us to win, and we didn't.

Saying what has Mario every won is pretty bunk in year Miami beat No. 6 Notre Dame, Florida, No. 18 Florida State—and then went into the CFP as a ten-see to beat No. 7 Texas A&M at their house, No. 2 Ohio State in a Cotton Bowl and No. 6 Ole Miss in a Fiesta Bowl—before a few self-inflicted wounds cost Miami in a title game against No. 1 Indiana.

Miami won two bowl games this season had won two bowl games total between 2006 and 2024, homie.

@skyman Realistically it’s likely going to be a very long time before we get back to the big dance.

Loser of the national championship game dating back to 2000:
2000: FSU- didn’t return until 13 years later
2001: Nebraska- never returned, 24 years and counting
2002: Miami- returned 23 years later
2003: OU- returned in 04 with largely the same team/QB (lost),
2004:’OU- returned 4 years later (lost)
2005 USC- never returned, 20 years and counting
2006 OSU- returned in 07 (lost),
2007 OSU- did not return for 7 years (won)
2008 OU- has never been back, 17 years and counting
2009 Texas- has never been back, 16 years and counting
2010 Oregon- returned 4 years later ( lost)
2011 LSU- returned 8 years later and won
2012 Notre Dame- returned 12 years later and lost
2013 Auburn- has never been back, 12 years and counting
2014 Oregon - has not been back 11 years later
2015 Clemson- returned and won the next year with largely same team/QB
2016 Bama- returned next season and won with largely same team/QB
2017 UGA- returned 4 years later and won
2018 Bama- returned two years later and won
2019 Clemson- has never returned, 6 years and counting
2020 OSU- returned 4 years later and won
2021 Bama- has not returned, 4 years and counting
2022 TCU- has not returned and won’t . 3 years and counting
2023 Washington- has not returned, 2 years
2024 ND- did not return
And this is why when teams like TCU and others were making their portal run and people said "they'd rather win the "right way" than win a natty like that" were totally missing this... of course we'd like to win several in a row, but the reality is we may not be back to the natty again for a long time. Could be next year. Could be never.

Sucks to miss the opportunity.

Miami took the hardest possible road to the title game.

Next year we very likely have a cakewalk schedule. If Clemson remains as bad as it is, the SOS is going in the 70-75 range. This year it was #34. Should easily win the ACC and assuming it stays a 12 team playoff for one more year, we get the automatic bye to the quarterfinals. I asked Gemini to run the numbers- it projects Miami playing Oregon or Notre Dame in the quarters (no doubt we win that one), then get Georgia or Indiana in Semis. Get our revenge on Indy like we did against Ohio St.

It projects us in the title game against Ohio St or Texas.

I prefer the outcome that occurred as opposed to Marion scoring but we give them 30 seeonds from the 25 and a few completions and no holds and of course their K making the 53 yarder to beat us

I think, if youre a good enough team, the bye helps.

Get rest. Get healthy. Get good quality practice.

Then the playoff gauntlet is lessened

Just got home from the game...my soul was crushed last night and my soul is crushed today. I have spun it a million different ways but I keep going back to the last play. Even if it were completed for a TD, too much time would have left for IU to get in FG position, and if any team could have it was them. They should have channeled the last drive against Ole miss in a more hurried form. I still loved this team and the ride. If you happen to be a Mets fan as well, this reminds me exactly like that team from 2024. All magic. Oh well...on to basketball.

I hate to say it, but we could have and should have won every game that we lost this year. We beat ourselves with penalties, self inflicted, turnovers and missed field goals. But with all those excuses, we had a chance at the end to win every game! In years past, once we got down, there was no coming back…
That past is years ago now and within the Mario era.

Not giving up in Year 4 is closing in on "What you want? A cookie?"

I’m right there with you man, traveled to all the games living on the edge this last month all to come up inches short of the dream. Just Brutal. Give it time and this too shall pass.

There is not one thing that Mario has done for our program that tells me that we will ever go on a two decade drought ever again. He has grown, perhaps not at the pace that we wanted but he has. This run we had will turn out to be the best education he's had as a head coach. UM is not a one and done program. We have a school that is 100% committed to the football program and one of the best acquirers of talent in the game.

None of the programs on the list, including Miami, felt it would take years or decades or ever to be back in the game …
