For the same reason I wanted Butch..he had an investigation going on at UNC...For the same reason that I'm ecstatic having Coach Richt at the helm after being fired for under achieveing.. I feel the guy is geniune, good at what he does and like ALL of us deserves another chance.why would you wanna bring back randy Shannon if he had such a bad tenure here...I know he's a good coach that's not what I'm questioning but you don't think administration might have a problem with someone who apart of the investigation? My First Choice - Randy Shannon
My Second Choice - Kirk Olivadotti. .
He was Richt ILB coach at UGA for two season currently the LB coach for the Redskins..The Redskins fired their entire Def Staff in 2013..everybody but Olivadotti. .. He is alumni of St Thomas and his dad coached in the league for over 20 years.
My Third Choice - Michael Barrow.. he doesnt get much favor from the players cause he pushes hard and no nonsense kinda guy with him the do it right or do it again and again and again...he was like that with the HS kids during a camp..Hurlie needs to move back to the DBs more specific Safeties. ..should be a Safety coach and a Corner coach
Not only that Shannon demonstrated he was an amazing recruiter AND coordinator. Yes he didn't know how to run a program, but that doesn't matter as a DC. We're not looking for a HC, we're looking for a DC, and Shannon has demonstrated he is one of the best for that role as he routinely produced top defenses even when the team struggled.

Shannon won the lottery his first year with those Northwestern and BTW teams, yet he didn't get he best player from the West that year and struck out on Patrick Johnson. The rest of the years he was garbage recruiting.. didn't even step on Central's school grounds for over 3 years.
Here is film of the kid....

Paul Williams went to Delaware and coached there for 6 years. No surprise he tries to bring this kid down here. I bet he has a connection to someone on that high school staff.
And Hurlie was definitely being modest with that high 4.7/low 4.8 comment. This kid is slooooooooow against weak competition. He has an older brother at Penn State and they won't even take him.

Not only for the misses but for how he dissed so many local schools and it took us years to repair the damage he had done.
The stories high school coaches tell about Randy's years at UM are embarrassing to the U.
Randy was to loyal to "his" high schools and actually avoided other high schools that were winning state titles because they were not his boys. Also he refused to recruit stud players because they didn't fit into his height and weight requirements, while every other major school in the country was after them. Randy also refused to adapt to modern recruiting while at Miami and wanted kids to feel blessed that he offered them, when the same kids already had Bama and FSU and Flroida breathing down their necks. Randy was a good recruiter...what? GTFOH!

Nothing is wrong at all with wanting randy as a defensive coordinator he's great at that. If we are talking about a head coach that's a different story obviously. I love the richt hire, he's a great person and coach
even when those kids were gone, shannon fielded a pretty good defense.
It's funny...
When Butch coaches studs who went onto great NFL careers we always hear "Butch developed so and so..."
When Shannon fielded good defenses at Miami it's always "He had a roster full of NFL Pro-Bowlers to work with."

I am curious if any former head coach has come back to the same team at a lower position? There is always going to be a first. Though I am wondering if maybe Richt has some NFL coaches in mind and that is a reason why people have not been named yet?

Wade Davis was Broncos HC in the 90s. Came back to be DC and they are wrecking **** right now defensively.
