They’d be some of the highest rated guys Likens has worked with. I’m not comparing just hoping they turn out to have that sort of role.
Payton is going to be a beast. Pope, not so much.

No comparisons are 100. Lets just hope those boys grow into their own and bring us some wins. Heavy load on Likens...I’m also hoping Payton is the next Andre Johnson and Pope the next Tyreek Hill
Its now or nothing for Pope...They’d be some of the highest rated guys Likens has worked with. I’m not comparing just hoping they turn out to have that sort of role.
For anyone to believe that unc team SHOULD be able to make anyone it's bytch shows signs of dillusion. That's not to say unc can't be good. That's to say it's absurd to ASSUME they will be so good. They are a basic team that don't scare no one. We atleast have several pieces that cause plenty of fear. With our schedule and an offense that SHOULD be innovative we have a far easier path to relevance. But we're a long way from being a LEGIT national squad. Hopefully most of y'all wont be confused by the record this year. That's like saying the crime rate is on a decline while the world is looting and pillaging. But I was led to believe that were going to be UNC's bytch this year. How are they not on the list?
This scheme isn't EVER designed for pressure up front. The tackles are coached up to occupy the blockers and opening wholes up the middle for backers and strong safety while the ends push outside. The scheme is designed for blitzes. News flash MANDY ain't never gonna change in that aspect.Be less predictable with the blitz and focus more on getting pressure from the guys upfront! We leave too many middle zones wide open.
How would you feel in that system? What Would be you're main gripe about how it fit your style of play? If i may ask? This scheme isn't EVER designed for pressure up front. If you wanna stick to the numbers there's logic in that. But you also have to realize the talent of the teams hes been piling up his stats against. While everyone wants to argue statistics the only numbers that matter are w & l. Don't think there's much arguments to make in that category. He definitely has his moments though. Good and bad that's just him. I feel he's getting better at adjustments, but still way too far behind the curve.Manny's defenses, since he's been here, have consistently been some of the best in the country after halftime.
Not a perfect metric, but this is 2nd half points allowed per game:
2019 -- 10.2 (24th)
2018 -- 8.9 (12th)
2017 -- 11.1 (39th)
2016 -- 8.3 (6th)
But ****, I'm not gonna be the guy who lets facts get in the way of a good cry. Have at it.
Agreed, I love a good blitz package but the DE's we are going to have we better be putting 7 in coverage on 3rd and long and allow the DL to hunt.Fire up the planes & get this banner flying!
I personally ain't crazy about our scheme. It's all based on flash and lacks substance. I don't like that we don't even attempt to establish a foundation out of our front seven. It's shows a lack of trust in the talent in place(not just this year but annually)and a lack of ability out of our coaches to draw out the talent at the most fundamental position(beyond oline)on the field. A defense just like an offense is predetermined by the ability of it's line play. That's why Mandy insists on misdirection because he doesn't demand anything out of up front. It puts far more pressure than necessary on a secondary that already has a base of playing on an island. The reason for the striker position (which is worthless)is because the backers don't play in coverage 8 out of 10 since they run blitz predominantly. Yet another amusing piece to me is our fans don't seem to realize this. They get on our backers for playing so bad in coverage. Problem with that is literally when they drop in coverage it's because our defense is caught out of position. All our defenses beforehand each got strength from the other units. Now the only strength is our ends and that because they frequently draw single coverage due to the blitzes having to be picked up. MisdirectionHow would you feel in that system? Wiggins needs to catch the ball consistently but Payton is a redshirt freshman, let's give him a chance to get some snaps. I also think Pope is going to look a lot better in this offense. Our WRs suck everybody is a project or limited. The only complete guys we have on roster is Wiggins and Payton and we don’t know if they can take it up a level. Everybody else has a size concern or are too young to judge.
So when we sit here and ***** about DT play we're wasting our time. We're expecting something out of that group that the scheme doesn't. Appreciate the reply. delayed blitz package never seems to even generate pressureI like blitzing too but the designs and effectiveness have not been good. Also it doesn’t keep them guessing when you blitz on every 3rd and long.
While I agree, Diaz does not excel at situational blitzing.
Blitzing with a purpose. Not just to blitz. Needs work.

Could it be more on Baker than *****?Which is weird because of the numbers Willis put up

Nice point! Now a question for you good sir, why have his defenses been so atrocious in the first half since he’s been here?Manny's defenses, since he's been here, have consistently been some of the best in the country after halftime.

Willis had amazing fundamentals. Some of the best hands I seen in a LONG time. He'd take on his blockers and she'd with the best of em.Which is weird because of the numbers Willis put up
