Started at UM in 2003. Transferred to FSU because tuition costs (even with a merrick scholly) were killin the fam and I didn't want to take out loans. Fsu ended up paying me 20 grand to go there. Hopefully I can afford to send my future kids to UM if they want to go.

'06 alum but my Miami roots are deep. To the OP's point and in contradiction to Calinative, I have much more respect for the fandom of the old school Miami guys who were not necessarily grads of the school. Miami was a much different place back in the day and the city was all about the Canes. My dad used to tell me stories about people honking their horns for days after our first NC. Most long-time fans aren't necessarily better than recent students but have a much better perspective on what the team meant to the city and how it was part of the culture.
