How is Butch Davis not in the UMHOF?

Schellenberger handed over his team to JJ. Built up, restored, coming off a National, and JJ won.
Jimmy handed over a top caliber team to Erickson - and they won two.

Erickson crashed the machine.

Butch dug it out of the dirt - and brought it back - and it took some time.

Now, who was REALLY more successful?

The guys who rode on the success of others?

Or the two who brought it out of the ashes?

And some here want to compare wins/losses?

While he inherited a ****show, in six years, he won 10+ games once. So you have to get into the color and intangibles to put him in. First you have to overlook how he left, which is fine. So probably because every time his name comes up it coincides with him doing or badmouthing/ saying something stupid about UM. Loved Butch, but man, has he had a weird last decade.

Because the people that matter at UM are still butthurt that he left, after they mismanaged and caused the whole situation. Vintage Miami.

That’s okay, though. Thankfully they hired Larry Coker and continued to make great decisions leading us to where we are in the present day.

Also dead at Butch not being a good coach. Beat several good teams including a #1 ranked FSU. yawn.

idk about the beginning...thats on you...but I can corroborate the bold for you. Unethical behavior was happening at FIU from numerous people, but, from Butch? Not from what I know.

Butch rebuilt a program that was on life support, with zero investment or help from the school. He definitely had flaws as a coach that no one will dispute, but I never can believe the amount of our own fans who have such disdain for him.

No coach since him has really even come close except maybe Rick. But yeah Butch sucked.

Great recruiter and evaluator but god awful on game days. He needed great talent to over come his corching. When Bruce Arians calls you a huge ***** that speaks. I have no distain towards the guy I just tell the whole story when the god status talk starts.

I don't think that saying Butch the coach was not great is ****ting on Butch. Butch the recruiter and talent evaluator for his staff was incredible. Butch the coach was not. Adding that nuance does not mean you don't recognize what he did, what he had to deal with, what he walked in, or the fact that he probably would have won multiple titles because of the roster and staff he built.
