How good is Jameis Winston?

Pretty darn good, but he's throwing to an exceptional receiver in Rashard Greene. Greene is the goods. Smart, hardworking, exceptional athlete and student of the game.

It's hard to tell how Winston's game will transition to the NFL. He is definitely a franchise quarterback and he is definitely a huge risk. A GM and a head coach could easily be fired if he doesn't work out. Think JaMarcus Russell or Vince Young.

He's as good as he needs to be. Anyone slighting this dude's ability is a dope. He's an incredible college QB.

Winston is a phenomenal college QB. A few things stand out especially considering his youth - his decision making and pocket awareness (knowing when to run). He almost always makes very good decisions and he actually has great pocket patience given his athletic ability. He is a fantastic athlete and knows how to scramble. Awareness on the field is top notch. His delivery is very slow, which I think will really work against him in the pros. Off the field, he seems to be a train wreck - lots of hubris,

Those who compare his game to Vince Young are dolts. They are nothing like each other in terms of repertoire/skillset.

He hasn't lost a game in college......yet.

I'd say that's pretty fckn good.

and jason white almost run two heismans and wasn't even drafted. what's your point? college and the league are two very different levels of competition.

My definition of someone that is good in the NFL is "anyone who is in the NFL".

So yeah.

this thread is about his NFL potential. he's a phenomenal college QB but i have major doubts of him succeeding in the league.

going to be a huge bust in the nfl

Not even hating on the kid but I agree. He's a phenomenal college QB, but if he doesn't get some help he will have too tough of a time adjusting to the NFL. And not just the NFL, but life in general.

I'm not really moved.

-Has a tendency to be erratic and accuracy is something that rarely improves drastically once you get to the next level.
-Stares down receivers which is a trait that most young QB's possess.
-Definitely gunslinger mentality. He puts a ton of faith in his physical ability/arm talent.
-Tough as **** in the pocket. He doesn't have happy feet. Will stand in and deliver the ball under pressure.
-Ben Roethlisberger type sandlot plays where he shrugs off on coming rushers and makes it up as he goes along.
-Above Average pocket presence. Can feel rushers and either get rid of the ball or has the athleticism to make it happen with his feet
-Last year, he was impeccable against the blitz, this year he has been mediocre at best.
-Plays well when it matters most. Has led numerous FSU comebacks.
-Jimbo Fisher runs an offense with very basic route concepts. Heavy on "curl/flat" and "verts" or specific plays to get one option open
-Can he adjust to an advanced system? (See other Jimbo Fisher QB's)
-Despite myriad of distractions...he still hasn't lost as a starter
-Those myriad of distractions have been caused by himself and his decision making could be categorized as questionable at best off the field.
-How will he handle responsibility that comes with being a professional and being PAID

is how I imagine a scouting report of the rapist would probably look

Exactly.

And his best attribute is his refusal to lose. He's the ultimate clutch money QB and a great leader. His teammates believe he's unbeatable and look at him like a deity.

I'll tell you one thing for sure. If they have the ball last down by 8 or less Folden better have on black khakis. This dude does not lose in that situation.

He's Good and Gets off on talent. FSU's QB coach needs to get fired because I haven't seen the improvement from last year. His footwork sucks and he's a questionable decision maker at times. If he can develop on the next level he'll be alright.

He's their program. When he leaves, they will go through the same problems that Miami and Florida went through.

Winston plays behind a veteran offensive line and he is throwing to the best wide receiver in college football. He is a big kid, great athlete and throws the ball fairly accurately. He could also be a great athlete in a system and nobody knows how much this will transition to the next level.

The only reference to Vince Young is he was the 3rd pick in the NFL draft. JaMarcus Russell went 1st overall. It has absolutely nothing to do with skill sets. The point here is a kid like Winston is truly a feast or famine pick and if you're wrong as a GM you're probably burying your franchise for 3 to 5 years.

I wish I had a thousand dollars for every outstanding college quarterback who failed in the NFL. Matt Leinart lost two games in college and the game against Texas wasn't even his fault. It was a question of who had the ball last. He was the goods in college. Big, great vision, very good pocket presence, accurate. He blew in the NFL.

This is the worst QB draft class ever IMO so he will be 1st Round. He is the only one out of all the QB's i feel has a chance to be a long term starter. I think he is better then RG3, Geno Smith, EJ, Mainzel coming out. but he is not on Andrew Luck and Russel Wilson Level.

His Biggest Asset is being able to read defenses and his mobility.

His Weakness is taking too many risks and luckily FSU plays subpar Comp besides us so his WR could make plays.

Agree 100%. Every time I mention on here that their program was an 8-9 win team before he played and they will go back to the same I get push back for saying so. I can't believe I am going to say this as he has them on a long winning streak but I think Dumbo will be relieved when he leaves. Any coach with real values would have booted him off the team long ago. Dude is a mental case with loads of talent and will get lots of blanket parties in the NFL IMO..
