How does Les Miles not have a job?

Has SEC titles, SEC West Titles, a National Title. Brought in major recruits. Multiple programs were scrambling to fill their HC position this year. Still no one called Les Miles. I have no loyalty to the guy, but it is an enigma to me. Do people just hate the guy that much? It almost sounds like when Dan Mullen got turned down for our team.

He’s 64 years old and runs an ancient offense.

I always liked him as a coach, but major programs aren’t gonna spend on a guy like that.

It's beyond ancient. It's primative.

Take away the LSU bagmen and he's one of the worst coaches in the country.

He hasn't ever been a top 5 coach but he was always a top 10ish coach minus his last 2 years when he refused to update his O. He would of been great at a place like Arkansas .

OSU don't want him anywhere near the program again and it was LSU who ushered him out mid sesason. He is notorious for his dirty ways. Thank God the madhater is nowhere near this program.

Same reason Mack Brown doesn't have a job. Just switch the conference accolades listed by the OP from SEC to Big 12 and it's basically the same resume.

Dude had the most talent every single year and found ways to not only lose one game but multiple games

I wanna say he’s an excellent recruiter but we all know LSU is on a similar level to bama with boosters

I'm not really sure what Miles' speciality is.. he always had a top notch DC and (if offense is his thing) his offenses were terrible at LSU.

Plus he always had a rep for being 'lucky'. He had alot of last minute blunders and trick plays just go his way.

Like Butch Davis, he just has to find his FIU.

Though, seeing what Baylor has become in such a short period of time, I wonder if they wish they had a do over on that hire? I think Miles would be a much better fit there than Matt Rhule is.

So maybe that's it. Les Miles probably was expecting to land a UF/Tenn job and should have been looking for Louisianna Monroe.

His compensation package is close to 11 million and is probably off set by working another gig... He is set for life!

Two reasons Miles is unemployed:

* ageism. Like Butch Davis and Mack Brown, it’s tough getting a job after age 60. Too bad, I think. Saban is 65 and still has the fire that burns.

* stubbornness. Refused to update his offense in his final two years. I would think an interested AD could convince him to hire a dynamic OC.

Les is a great defensive coach, recruiter and is very popular with his players. Fun, personable and funny guy. I thought Ole Miss might turn to him to get them through rebuilding for the next 5 years. Didn’t happen.

All the big jobs are now filled. How about SMU for Wes?

Not a corch. Golden or Shannon could have had all the bagment in the word and still failed. He’s not great given the resources he had, but the leadership to keep the program elite. He just never made the right hire on offense and was too loyal to pro style

Because he is washed up like Bobby Bowden and Mack Brown toward the end of their careers. He is antiquated and refused to change with the times offensively. He really was nothing more than a recruiter with a good staff at a school that had tons of $$$ who was very lucky to follow up Nick Saban after he built the program up.

The best thing I can say about him is that at least he didn't destroy the program like Larry Coker here by being excessively soft, not making players compete and toning down the intensity at practice to avoid injuries.

He would be great at Arkansas? He stuggled/underachieved at LSU but he would be “great” at an inferior program in the same division. Wow.
