How do you stop Clemson....

We'd have to change our philosophy for one. I think that tempo hurts us against Clemson. The faster we play, if we're not moving the ball we're getting it back to them faster. We have to understand that we're overmatched against their offense and we don't want them to have a lot of possessions. And we have weak wr's. In this case i'd slow he game down. I'm signaling adjustments in up to the last 10 seconds. I'm spreading the field wide so that I can hit those underneath slants for 3-5 yards hoping for a skill guy to break one. If not we jut methodically and safely grind down the field.

I'm playing the field position game. Got one of the best punters in college football. Anytime I'm inside their 40 its 4 down territory until we can score because we got one of the best fg kickers in the game.

Once again I'm keeping everything in front of me and making them run a lot of plays. No chunk td's. If we get too far behind they'll start to pour it on. Give our defensive players a chance to be great. We have NFL players on our defense.

Get lucky

Get 2 turnovers

Clemson does not have a lot of "lower ranked" players unless you're counting the Herbstreits' of the world who are on the team for window dressing. They are 4-5 deep with great players at every position so you can talk about coaching until the cows come home but Clemson runs so many different players in and out during a game there are very few teams who can compete with that. It's like the old days of stock piling players before the 85 rule and they manage to do it.

I do think the new transfer rule will help a bit as there are 4-5* players riding the pine who want to play and will take advantage of the rule.
I just showed you their 2 starting (low ranked) Linebackers. Those were the kids kicking our a$$ in the run game.
Even Isaiah Timmons was a lower ranked guy. They don't have nearly as much 4/5 star talent as some of the other elite programs in the country.

I mean, they're signing more and more NOW, but they built their program on PLAYER DEVELOPMENT and COACHING.
They only have like 3 LB's in the NFL and I'm pretty sure they're nobodies. The one position they definitely put a premium on is DL. They're basically "DL University" right now.

So if and when we see them again I think we need to change up how we look on def. I watched there GT GAME AND REWATCHED the game we played with them. It was screen after screen after screen. WITH MULTIPLE screens in one play. How and what def do you use to stop something like that?
I also noticed that we weren't getting any pressure on Lawrence like we should do we call more blitzing packages or do we play more of a 3-4spy look? I would really like to see a cornerback blitz added in as well that way if he decides to not throw it to one screen you have the corner ready to kill him when he turns around to throw back to the next screen.
It's not complicated, but difficult due but travis is the real deal as well as trevor, but our players had trevor shook, his confidence was only their because they had the lead and our defensive scheme and calls were flawed.

We are a strong defense because we have real good players but in order to become an elite defense, the coordinator has to do a way better job of understanding down and distance and situational football. Like manny before him, teams keep consistently attacking the defensive tendecies of coach baker, most of those screen passes were obvious calls, the offensive personnel upstairs can easily see when we get a team in 3rd and long, we almost instantly are running some type of zone blitz with one db in press-man, if you catch which side is in press-man, it becomes an easy day. Than our linebackers pretty much don't cover anything in the passing game because of the design flaws of the defense.

It's still comical to here somebody is actually still being called a middle linebacker in a 4-2-5 alignment. Basically with a team like Clemson, or any spread offense you have to leave your corners on an island, maybe a 1 high safety, shut the run game down, and forced trevor to have to pass downfield to best you. Also here is the problem I got with rhett lashlee's more plays philosophy, against a team like Clemson, and the better teams, we don't need a how many plays run contest, we need efficiency and time management control as well, with coach diaz being a new headcoach, he doesn't quite understand that yet. They actually think more plays means you're being more aggressive, lol, at certain points in games, particularly Clemson, to many if those fast 3 & outs will definitely wear down your own defense, the depth is not the issue, the philosophy/game plan is the ultimate problem.

We are a team trying to start a "culture" because it hasn't been established yet contrary to what coach diaz said about offense prior to the Clemson game. Our system of doing things at this stage is definitely not elite, however we do have individual elite coaches on staff hickson, rumph, stroud and likens. We have the players on the roster to get the job done, but the system and the in game adjustments from the staff has the become elite and from the interviews coach diaz have made as well as the coordinators, they obviously keep struggling with that part of it this is why we keep hearing these type talking points:

“They do change a little bit with those other guys in there, but that’s a small sample size,” Diaz said. “They could change the package with those other QB’s that went in. One a true freshman, one a transfer, his role is increasing. We have to prepare for the Virginia offense we’ve seen in the last five years, what they showed at Wake Forest, and anticipate how they can expand those guys’ package. We will have to adjust during the game.”

Until this mindset is corrected, this team won't play elite!

If we swapped defensive coordinators with Clemson I honestly think we can beat them. I think Venables made that big of an impact on our game. And I am not saying baker called a bad game, but Swinney’s clone is on another level.

Naw. We needed to switch offensive coordinators. Lashlee’s game plan was *** cheeks.

Between that and the penalties, the was no chance.

Stop giving them to much credit. We needed to play our best ball and we didn't. They came to compete and we simply didn't. I think if we had played them before the bye we it's a win.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Eaiser said than done but a very good post.

If rhett lashlee worked under jimmy johnson, butch davis or randy shannon, they all would've went off on em by now in game, how is rhett suppose to get better when in that Clemson game he needed guidance and got none cause coach is new to this, good coaches make their coordinators better in game, sometimes a coordinator has to be challenged in game, coach diaz can only challenge baker and his minions. In big boy football, trying to see how many plays you can run is comical and unnecessary, tighten up rhett!

They are intensely focused no slack probably the most practiced factor in there practices.
Being focused sharpens your play doing this for years makes you a juggernaut mentally tough way above you opponent’s.

like Saban he challenges his own team constantly “ WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BREAK YOU” ?

Once you know your weaknesses you can focus on eliminating them .

The fruits are fewer dropped passes, less penalties and so on.

When we focus on our selves and not late hits and ME ME I HAVR THE U ON MY HELMET, we will put up 60 plus points every single game to giving up near nothing.

ONE DAY THE PLAYERS WILL GET THIS

Bama or O$U can beat them.

A team like us would have to knockout their QB or just hope he plays the worst game of his life.

I'm no expert, but I'd follow Pitt's defensive gameplan on us. Pitt had basically their entire D within 10 yards of the LOS. That is a recipe to get beat deep, but Clemson doesn't have Tee Higins or Justyn Ross to make you pay right now. Amari Rogers is good but they're so multifaceted, you have to dare them to beat you deep. I think you have to sell out to stop the short passing game. That killed us and nullified pass rush.

I figured it out, this is how you stop Clemson....

There is No way that these 2 teams don't have skeletons in the closet. You can't be winning year after year without help from the outside. Football fans are really tired of these teams being on top like this, including myself and most of college football world. They are cheating big time. It's so EASY to figure out. Send in informants
They’re not cheating.
Etienne will be gone after the 2021 season, Lawrence after the 2022 season.

Lol at Lawrence sticking around after this year. He’s gone too

We’re not on their level, both from a roster and coaching standpoint. Defensively, Clemson will do the same thing as last time because it’s a simple 1v1 matchup on the outside that’s heavily in their favor. Maybe we put Mallory our there and throw jump balls. We also need to utilize picks and rubs to free up our WRs. They’re not going to let us run.

Beating Clemson with Miami's personnel will be **** near impossible. The defense actually played decent and gave up 42. LBs and dumb penalties were our only defensive issue. Etienne and Lawrence were contained for most part (2 big Etienne plays). The goal is to keep Clemson in the low 30s. Offense and special teams is the only chance at winning. Blocked Punt for TD etc. Offense. RB Screen them to death. You have to keep their lbs honest. Also i agree. Chill on the tempo. That wont work this game. That being said, we dont have good enough players or great enough coaches to beat Clemson. They are #1 and Top 2 for the last 4 years.

First off, miami players have to play MAD and i'm not seeing that. I mean ****ed off when I say mad, bolden gets dramatic sometimes but if all our players had that kinda fire...

Because first off, the zebras are on their side the entire time. So having to beat the zebras AND clemson? The only way is with luck, and rage.

Focus, composure and field presence.

These are what Clemson has that we do not.

Again till players understand this will be the edge we lose to in big and tight games.

NOT THE OTHER TEAMS.

We must be saved from ourselves, just like in real life .

Football is real life.

We actually had Clemson behind the sticks on several occasions but their OC always beat our defense with some sort of gimmick even in 3rd and 10+ yards. Playing disciplined defense has got to be a priority.
