How do you stop Clemson....

Get better players and coaches and try to stop them in the future.

UM ain't "stopping" Clemson this year. If we stood a chance it was to get after them with our offense and maybe force a turnover or get a couple key stops here and there or force FGs. But you aren't stopping that offense. Our offense was worse than our defense in that game though, so better luck next year.

Play 6 and 11 at backer for 1.

2. Either, teach wr’s to get better separation, or get ones that can.

3. Get more creative on offense.

4. Less mistakes, more discipline.

5. More players like 21.

A priest, at least 3 swords, a license to ill by the beastie boys, 3 ouija boards and a squeegee and please be warned don’t ask what the squeegee’s for.

Teams have paid players for a long time and Clemson was never a big player. So what happened? Pockets got fat quick.

Is that church really illegally funneling money into the football program? What a story that’s be. Where’s that Yahoo cuck when you need him?

Keep building.... we have a nice class

and an equalizer when it comes to getting it to par quickly with the transfer portal if we grab the right ones

But first we need to get some sustained winning. I.e 10 win seasons and great recruiting classes... top 10 level with difference makers In the trenches and a good QB....

Skill position players are so plentiful that the “right 3stars” can be super stars in this offense (notice I say right and now all.. look at that bum Wiggins)

So if and when we see them again I think we need to change up how we look on def. I watched there GT GAME AND REWATCHED the game we played with them. It was screen after screen after screen. WITH MULTIPLE screens in one play. How and what def do you use to stop something like that?
I also noticed that we weren't getting any pressure on Lawrence like we should do we call more blitzing packages or do we play more of a 3-4spy look? I would really like to see a cornerback blitz added in as well that way if he decides to not throw it to one screen you have the corner ready to kill him when he turns around to throw back to the next screen.
let's focus on stopping Virginia

Flawed.
You asked to stop the run game, but you want to put a corner essentially in the box. One of the other ahah
They have a good offense based on mis-direction, so if you have guys who don't have strong eye discipline, which is standard at the college level, it opens things up.

I would not want to get beat over the top, that's a recipe for a disaster, especially for a team that can rush the QB, cause they will and apparently you have not watched Clemson with Lawrence, but that guy can drop it in a bucket from 50 yards on the long ball, that's why the NFL loves him.
Keep everything in front of you, and more plays means more potential for a fumble or pick or incompletion, then they get behind the sticks a little, then you can dictate. Takes your chances and shoot your shot and see what happens.
When you are out talented you need to take chances. If you play soft coverage Lawrence will pick you apart and if you don’t cover ETN tight in the passing game you will lose. I don’t care how good your pass rush is if you are not pressed up on the outside the ball will be out before you get to hit the qb.

You can still go deep on press man.
It's a rhythm spot throw 35 yards outside shoulder, you better hope they don't do that then.
Not gonna argue with you, cause we ain't beating them even if you have Wade Philips, and the only team capable is Bama, and it ain't because they're defense, it's because their offense can keep up.

someone said y'all need a fixer....

Not arguing, of course you can go deep on press man and when you get burnt you get burnt baaaad. That said you have to leave yourself vulnerable in some place and hope your guys step up when you are outmanned and facing a player as dynamic as ETN.

mix up defensive schemes to try and confuse them, that’s what I’d do. we are very predictable with our blitzes and our D-line rushing upfield. Clemson can release a few lineman upfield and boom, chunk plays.

blitz some time, but other times drop back out of the blitz, play different looks and force Trevor to THINK.

on offense run King more like 15-20 carries and then hope he has a great passing game

I’m not going to pretend to know the x’s or o’s to slow down Clemson but I do know two things, we need to upgrade our players and coaching staff in order to come close. That bull**** we did against them a few weeks ago isn’t going to work. Until then, Miami will continue to be “above average” at best. The 2021 class is a great start to improve on Defense, let’s see if he makes changes on Defensive staff....which I doubt.

If you think about it, we did force some turnovers to keep us within striking distance; we got a blocked fg returned for a TD at the end of the 1H AND we had a forced fumble that allowed us to (potentially) get within one score in the early 3Q. If the offense was competent, we had a chance to at least stay within striking distance heading into the last 15 minutes.

And we still got our asses handed to us.
