"How can we compete with Clemson?"

What recruiting service are you looking at for that info? Rivals has their 2016 class ranked 6th and 2015 ranked 4th....also a lot of the rankings are based on points and size of class...Clemson has had some small classes but almost every year they get multiple 5 star players.... Based on rivals rankings, 2018 - 5 five stars, 2017 - 3 five stars, 2016 - 3 five stars, 2015 - 3 five stars, etc.. they have stacked a lot of 5 star talent and they recruit extremely well on the DL
Recruiting rankings since Dabo Swinney became head coach:

2009: 36th
2010: 27th
2011: 10th
2012: 20th
2013: 15th
2014: 16th
2015: 9th
2016: 11th
2017: 16th
2018: 7th

Our class is currently ranked 5th, higher than any class in Dabo's career.

Losing the Heritage CBs was a huge failure. This class was a tremendous success.

I think this makes it even scarier.

We'll need to rely on having way better talent and evaluations because they evidently coach their players above their projected talent.

It's still in question as to whether or not we do that on either side of the ball.

Lock the ****** thread!

Yawn. You’re trolling your own board on signing day. This place is a ******* zoo. Lock it up.

Surprising to see this. But I'm sure it's heavy in the trenches. Stellar coordinators. And they get their jr's to come back for their sr season.

Their players stay and they got the once in a decade game changer in Watson, who also stayed and developed. It's not a secret. Our mind numbingly stupid players bail if they even sniff the draft. Their players stay, and they are much better players to begin with. We need to keep our players for 4-5 years on the lines and continue to recruit the athletes and IF the guys along the trenches stay, and if we get a great, game changing player, then we will be elite. Not one or the other. Both have to happen.

I wont hold my breath.

Agree.

Diaz has said he "understands Miami defense".

I don't think he does. Miami doesn't play soft. He plays soft - at times.

Hopefully he'll fix this shortcoming. Hopefully.

Have you seen their qb rankings? They pulled the #1 qb and #1 overall player. They have a real D coordinator too unlike Diaz who plays soft zone and spots the other 3 tds before he goes to man which works, but by then the d is worn out and cannot stop a mid major team from scoring in the 2nd half.

Sp we lost most of our Dl, both dt and we've gained on the team that just smashed us. Makes sense.

Wow

We signed a great class but not a championship class because of the lack of DT and losing two elite CBs. You can't beat the best without bringing in those game changers, so on to 2019 and see if we can take the next step. Overall the class is loaded, but still lacked a couple of holes.

That's the problem and why everyone is freaking out right now, because we know that THIS staff isn't out X's & O's anyone. Blatantly obvious.

Your post is misleading since they never take large classes. Their classes are usually 15-21 recruits, but their average ranking per recruit is always higher than ours

This is a joke of a thread. They bring in elite, top of the line talent. We don't. They're bringing in like 5 5-stars this cycle?? We have one. They had potentially 3-4 1st rounders on their dline this year, we may have had one. They have brought in 3 5-star Qb's in a row, we haven't brought in one. The gap exists, lets not be delusional about it.

Clemson gets good classes D hes right

Its because they have so many kids stay 4-5 years that they always sign small classes. They get like 4-5 5 stars every year.

8 years ago Clemson was saying how can we compete with FSU. Just win games and they will come. Plus it doesn't hurt that Clemson is only competing with Carolina schools. We will always have to compete with UF and FSU which is alot different than USCocks and UNC. It all boils down to winning. Kids these days want the easy route and right now that's Clemson, Bama, and UGA this year. If we closed the season better than we did, We probably wouldn't be having this conversation but it doesn't come over night.
