How bad was it?

I hear you and agree but that’s the thing. Someone’s always killing the offense. Usually it’s penalties. Sometimes it’s drops. Sometimes it’s Beck. Sometimes it’s Dawson. All of this just means you’re a bad offense.

You either make the plays or you don’t. If you don’t, over and over again, you kinda are who you are. After 9 games, we are who we are. About the 50th best offense in the country. Average as ****.
I won't argue it. We have been a bland and inconsistent offense relying on talent advantage all year for success and not much else.

I am hoping that both JoJo and Lyle got their last chances yesterday before being asked to take a paycut and backseat to the young bucks who have upside. Their inability to take advantage of their opportunities has stolen ****essions from this offense in every game they have played, particularly Lyle. I dont know if we have scored even once in two years when hes come in for a drive in the second quarter and on many of those drives an uninspired run, dropped pass, or premature step out of bounds has been the difference in maintaining the drive or punting.

I think we all want to see Pringle worked into the offense as the change of pace back Lyle was supposed to be, even if he doesnt have Lyles size and upside as a 3 down back. At Wr Trader may still have some opportunities but at this pt Marion deserves his snaps. I dont know if we have anyone else that can take snaps from him but Ive seen enough half assed play to be done with the kid until garbage time.

It was **** near the same exact game v. Stanford, & once again, we played a porous Def & Off (122nd in Def & 83rd in Off).

Come out like that again to end the season & we’ll be going 1-2, if not 0-3.
this. im happy with the win but its not like we learned our lesson at any point. NCSU and Pitt are real toss ups unless we come out explosive from the start

Some of it is on getting the play in and some of it’s on Beck and what he’s seeing in pre snap. Ironically he rarely audibles . That’s what made the offense so good last year , Cam was always changing the play by coverage . Beck isn’t confident enough on what he’s seeing .
He’s the type of QB that significantly limits an offense and what you can accomplish as an OC ..he can’t run at all, sucks at making reads, has accuracy issues, and half the time you’re just hoping he doesn’t throw it to the other team smh that’s why we’ve been so conservative imo, tryna protect our 4 million dollar QB from himself..terrible eval by Dawson/Mario but it was better then rolling with Emory right

Mario cares about narratives and what’s being pushed by media . Hence why he has such a firm grip on what info gets out and who he speaks with.

Mendoza was the better and more reliable fit but Beck was another big name he pulled from the draft which means attention. He also knows the money numbers although bs help with the narrative. I get drawing attention to your program but he’s fixated on it more than most.

his career stops will tell you the answer

Do we apply that same logic to Heatherman?

Trumpycane knows Mirabal is a polarizing figure here, but the guys produced everywhere he’s been, Marshall had nine all-conference lineman while he was there

Strictly from a coaching perspective, he’s a least of our worries

I remember there was a quote by Dawson saying 90% (hyperbole) of the time he didn't know the final play because Cam changed it up all the time. Makes you think how much we can attribute last year's success to Cam vs Dawson.

Agreed. Mirabal is one of the better OL coaches in CFB. Top 10? He actually has a track record.

The problem is the run game design. I put most of this on Mario, he's in charge. Mirabal was at Marshall 2013-2017 under Doc Holliday and Bill Legg as OC. According to Wikipedia Marshall ran a Spread offense.

Both.

Dawson had TVD looking good for awhile. Nearly 500 yards and 4-5 TDs beating TAMU. TVD mentally imploded and that was that.

Cam was a phenom talent. Teams could not stack the box against Fletcher and Martinez because Cam would take their lunch money and throw over their heads to X, Horton, George, and Arroyo. All of the above except Fletcher are gone.

This season we're stuck with Beck's limitations, losing Martinez and the WR/TE room. No reliable blocking TEs. A new WR room with a mix of mercenaries like CJ, Marion, and Johnson, and youngsters like Toney, Upshaw, and Moore. Trader has talent but an enigma.

The problems are a poor coaching response to losing so much production.

First half drives

7 plays 20 yards 3:32
10 plays 37 yards 6:09
4 plays 9 yards 1:23
3 plays 6 yards - run run pass punt. 1:28
5 plays 90 yards TD (41 on a tunnel screen) 3:08

The play calling and pace in the first half was atrocious. Keep in mind the 41 yard tunnel screen was on 2nd and 12. I’d like to see a chart on how effective that play has been these last 4 weeks. That’s your call on 2nd and 12? Yeah it hit but to me it’s not a great call. Especially considering we threw the ball downfield (+10 yards)about 2x prior to that call. 29 plays 162 yards in 15:40 TOP. Against one of the worst P4 defenses out there.

2nd half drives

3 plays 78 yards TD (61 yd to Marion, good call) 1:08

9 plays 83 yards TD (good balanced drive, Pringle time) 4:52

4 plays 5 yards 1:28. This was coming off a pick that gave us the ball at their 30. 2 A gap dives and a pass on 3rd and +7. After the previous drive where we moved the ball cleanly with balance, first down throws, outside runs, etc. and we come back with that drive? Terrible

6 plays 15 yards 3:44. Again a terrible series. Slow plodding A gap runs and short check down passes.

5 plays 51 yards TD to Mauigoa. 2:56

There was some belief that we played with more tempo in the second half. Looking at the numbers it was actually the same slow pace, 30+ seconds to get a play in and snap it. To me the numbers don’t lie. Anyone who thinks yesterday somehow solved anything are mistaken. About the only thing we learned yesterday was that we have some skill guys who haven’t seen the field for some reason.
The 10 plays to go 40 yards in under 7 minutes was particularly brutal, I never want to see that again

You and @Cribby are straight spitting facts.

Beck is @DMoney 's blind spot. He can't see what he is, because he won a lot of games as UGA's starting QB. Guess what? Not 1 single UGA fan would take Beck back over Stockton, and Stockton isn't a NFL QB.

I also am not the biggest Dawson fan, but our issues on offense are more about the QB position than the OC IMO.

If we had C.J. Bailey, Lenoris Sellers, and yes Mendoza this offense would be much more explosive, and overall harder to defend.

Pray Miami lands one of these dynamic types in portal for next season, and the defense improves in year 2 under Hetherman, and I think Miami will make their first CFB playoff.
