How bad was it?

We picked right in this game where we left off the last two. I guess falling from a number 2 ranking to 18 didn’t light any fire for change.
Which is exactly what I said would likely happen after DMoney said they were gonna “let it rip.” It was another snooze fest for almost the entirety of that first half, and disjointed during the second half. The refusal to beat the ever living dog ***** out of our opponents by playing more aggressively is extremely frustrating.

1st play was PA pass with Toney wide open on a mid cross and open daylight, would have been easy 20-30+ yard play to kick things off. Unfortunately ball got batted at the line whe beck threw it, **** happens. But if we hit on that play, feel like offense would have had confidence and juice. Actually was a good call and plays to beck strengths on PA. ugh

Drives 1&2 were blah
Drives 3&4 were the worst thing ever
Drives 5-7 were nice
Drives 8&9 were not nice
Drive 10 was good

I thought it was a mixed bag. The first four drives I think failed more because of Beck/JoJo/Lyle/the issues we were having in pass pro than playcalling. 8&9 I got really mad at Dawson in the GameDay thread. Just awful playcalling.

Syracuse's defense stinks. Best thing I can say about this game is that Beck didn't throw a pick - officially - and Pringle/Upshaw/Marion produced explosive plays.

Onto NC St. Keep winning please.

There’s variations to what no huddle is. We’re never gonna be the fast break no huddle team. But what we can be is strategic with it. You don’t have to be really fast for it to be effective. Remember how good Longo was at not allowing us to substitute up in Chapel Hill a few years ago? They weren’t moving as slow as us, but they also moving at USF pace either. That’s how we should be using it.

First half drives

7 plays 20 yards 3:32
10 plays 37 yards 6:09
4 plays 9 yards 1:23
3 plays 6 yards - run run pass punt. 1:28
5 plays 90 yards TD (41 on a tunnel screen) 3:08

The play calling and pace in the first half was atrocious. Keep in mind the 41 yard tunnel screen was on 2nd and 12. I’d like to see a chart on how effective that play has been these last 4 weeks. That’s your call on 2nd and 12? Yeah it hit but to me it’s not a great call. Especially considering we threw the ball downfield (+10 yards)about 2x prior to that call. 29 plays 162 yards in 15:40 TOP. Against one of the worst P4 defenses out there.

2nd half drives

3 plays 78 yards TD (61 yd to Marion, good call) 1:08

9 plays 83 yards TD (good balanced drive, Pringle time) 4:52

4 plays 5 yards 1:28. This was coming off a pick that gave us the ball at their 30. 2 A gap dives and a pass on 3rd and +7. After the previous drive where we moved the ball cleanly with balance, first down throws, outside runs, etc. and we come back with that drive? Terrible

6 plays 15 yards 3:44. Again a terrible series. Slow plodding A gap runs and short check down passes.

5 plays 51 yards TD to Mauigoa. 2:56

There was some belief that we played with more tempo in the second half. Looking at the numbers it was actually the same slow pace, 30+ seconds to get a play in and snap it. To me the numbers don’t lie. Anyone who thinks yesterday somehow solved anything are mistaken. About the only thing we learned yesterday was that we have some skill guys who haven’t seen the field for some reason.
Here's the fun part...
When Dawson sees the success, on tape, when we get to the boundary on the ground...his next game plan wont change.

That play actually would have been a TD, Toney would have dusted that guy.

The problem with Maiava is that he wasn’t good enough to be a take when he left UNLV. Riley made him. And once Riley got his hands on him, it was gonna be nearly impossible to steal him.
We made the offer to him before we committed to Beck. That was my post. He turned us down despite USC offering him peanuts at the time.

Toney should be in wildcat 1-2 times a game. Not sure why it took this long with his skill set and throwing ability . There’s so much potential .
A great OC (Brohm) would scheme a series or at least a sequence of 6-8 plays with him in the wildcat. Some with Beck in the backfield, split out, or off the field. But why would we want to make a defense stress out.

Scheming is for pussies

Some of it is on getting the play in and some of it’s on Beck and what he’s seeing in pre snap. Ironically he rarely audibles . That’s what made the offense so good last year , Cam was always changing the play by coverage . Beck isn’t confident enough on what he’s seeing .
so what the **** is he taking the play clock down to zero so much for, is he really just that slow of a processor or is that dictated by dawson/mario?

he will be the sacrificial lamb, this offense starts with the M&M boys, new OC won't change a **** thing
unpopular take but i think mario and mirabal get a bad rap ... they don't determine formation ... we have no consistent imagination ... gimma a guy who coordinates based on opponents, not based on a system

The thing is they're able to do it because that's exactly what the orbit motion with tony was. Idk why they've taken so long to set teams up like that for a bigger play.
