Hot Take: Miami (FL) will not return to prominence unless...

The Miami (FL) Hurricanes football program will never see a return to glory unless a major shift occurs in recruiting in-state players, specifically on offense. Of the 38 scholarship players currently slated to be on the 2017 roster, only 20 of them are from the state of Florida.

2 QB
4 RB
4 WR
1 TE
9 OL

Conversely, the defense features just 6 players who hail from out of state. The other 33 are products of Florida.

Is it a coincidence that the defense is so much better than the offense? LOL I don't think so!

RB-Portis-FL
FB-Davenport-FL
WR-A. Johnson-FL
WR-D. Jones-TX
TE-Shockey-OK
LT-McKinney-NJ
LG-Haji-Rausoli-Canada
C-Romberg-Freaking Canada
RG-Bibla-PA
RT-Gonzalez-FL

The last National Championship offense we had. Stack chips.

Portis might have gone to HS in FL, but he isnt from FL.

Although I wonder if he gets recruited by Butch to play RB had he stayed in MS.

Yep, ten guys who were good players here were from OOS, so clearly we don't need to focus primarily on recruiting in-state talent since 98% of our major record holders are from South Florida. Assdick.

There are way more OOSs that have excelled here than that list. Our great teams have always had a decent OOS representation.

Obviously this isn't a binary thing. We can focus on South Florida while still hitting the rest of the State and OOS.

Given the commits thus far for the 2018 class, the staff seems to be focusing quite a bit on South Florida.

If there's so many, would you please list them?

Not trying to be a pain in the ****. Sure, we've had several guys from OOS contribute but the overwhelming majority of the people who have amassed yards and touchdowns are from here in Florida.

The following positions should be 80%+ from FL:
RB
WR
LB
DB
S

The following positions can be from anywhere, because FL typically isn't elite at producing talent at any of these spots:
QB
OL
TE
DL (this one is tricky...FL typically has elite DE's but sometimes a little thin at DT)

How is it the Alabama and OSU have become dominant if they don't adhere to OP's theory?

As I said it's not a binary proposal. We will (as we always have) focus mostly on South Florida talent. That doesn't preclude us from going elsewhere.

Off the top of my head, you can add DJ Williams, Ed Reed, Russell Maryland and D Njoku. We can go on and on but it seems senseless with you.

We can go and get every player FIU would recruit from down the street and still be a bum. We return when we get the BEST players from FL, then supplement that with out of state players. So Cooke and Cooper and those type of players should be on our roster. It started to return already. The defense returned because No D and Golden got canned. We are not a team of scrub talent. We had terrible coaching and development. We had that now year slump but we won 5 to finish the season. We always withered late under both Shannon and Golden. We are in good hands and I trust whomever we bring in. But the kids in the south of the state and the rest of the state as well is smelling what's cooking. We are not just loading up players early, we are loading up TOP players early. I see alot of what Dabo did at Clemson early on going on here. We good
