Can anyone point me in the direction of proof that we have academic standards above what is necessary?

If you followed recruiting even casually you'd know that recruits constantly get into other schools when they fail to qualify at Miami. And I'm not just talking about kids who can only get into Marshall.

We have a somewhat tougher standard regarding JC recruits in that there are credits that we do not accept that other schools will.

Is that the case? I know the ACC has a rule where a player has to spend 3 consecutive semesters at a JuCo before allowing to transfer in. That's why Wyche couldn't come in the spring.

Also, we got Sandland because we allow online math courses to transfer while the SEC doesn't.

Yes, this is what we have known for a while. However, ABear was asking for proof.

My thing is, If we have these higher academic standards ... why would they be hidden

Soooo there are no higher standards for typical freshman recruits?

Opinion based on former coaches - Lary Coker in particular - complaining about UM's higher standards.

The guess would be that they don't tell the world what they are because they haven't always held every recruit to those standards. Whether they hold every recruit to those standards is UM's business. As long as a recruit meets NCAA minimums UM could admit him. But they don't and they aren't about to publicize the exceptions.

Sat in on a compliance meeting for football. The NCAA minimum to get in is quite different from the UM min. In season I think I remember that they adopt ncaa standards. That was in 2008.
