Home Game at FAU?

Please. Plenty of Noles in the Miami Gardens area too. Plenty of Canes fans in Central Florida who actually show up to games when they come to town. It would work better than playing on baseball clay again or having seating on one half of the field.

Fans aside, it's a neutral field, which ****s us. This **** better not happen. Literally booked my flights last night to come down that weekend.

As opposed to what? The NFL stadium we lease 20 miles from campus? The one on the Broward county border? The one well attended by Gator and Nole fans every Sunday? Count the garnet shirts that showed up to the stadium 2 years ago. Count the blue ones from 3 years ago. Until our fans dominate Joe Robbie, let's not cry home field advantage.

Do you think if the stadium was in a different location, less FSU fans would show up to Miami/FSU games? It's not the stadium's fault that Miami fans don't show up for their own team's games.

You're delusional if you think SLS's location doesn't affect attendance. Know how many fans from Miami do not attend games because they don't want to deal with the hassle of driving up there? As someone who lives in the The Falls/Kendall area, I see it too often.

Miami has yet to play a game at SLS where the entire stadium is full. Miami/FSU and Miami/Florida had many empty seats in the corners for those games. SLS has a history of poor attendance. It isn't just a coincidence.

You're regurgitating the same tired excuses to not go to games. Just like when the Marlins played at Sunlife and everyone in Miami *****ed "it's too far, it's too hot, there's too many rain delays, it's takes too long to get there". So they built an indoor stadium right in the middle of Miami and nobody goes. Attendance was in the toilet way before they moved to Sunlife. The last few years at the Orange Bowl they were only averaging around 35,000 people and that included the FSU games where 25,000+ Seminole fans showed up. The tired excuses Miami "fans" use for not going to games aren't going to work.

Was at those games it was full they added more seats toward the bottom so yes it can be filled

SLS is actually more advantageous as more Canes fans who attend games are in Broward and farther north than the wimps in Dade County who have always had excuses for not going I have been going to Canes games for 53 years and we have never had great attendance unless we played a name team. I still come 200 miles for games while the crybabies in Miami sit home complain about the team and then claim to be Canes fans.

Double-talk translation: We hope they finish the stadium. We're making it clear to everyone that it's the Dolphins' fault, not ours, if it isn't ready. We'll come up with some crappy last-minute alternative, which probably includes canceling the first game, if the Dolphins fck this up.
Pretty much... And playing FSU in Orlando would be a terrible alternative IMO. I'd rather just play the **** game @ FIU, than basically give up homefield advantage and play **** near 4hrs away from Miami in an area that is predominantly Gator/Nole territory.
Maybe if we were playing another team it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but this is the most important game on our schedule this year against our hated rival, we simply can not afford to give this one up to Orlando.

Lotta Nole fans in Orlando. That won't happen. They know that's not home field advantage AT ALL.

I'm saying, let's not whine about playing a home game in Orlando, when people aren't showing up to our own home stadium. In fact, a lot of fans that don't show up to Joe Robbie would likely go to the Citrus Bowl because they don't want to schlep down to the Broward-Miami-Dade border.

Dude, nobody's going to Orlando to see Miami vs FAMU. And if you're talking about Miami/FSU, that's the one game that's a lock to sell out here.

How can people book flights for the first game? This is ridiculous. And what about the people who already booked flights? What a cluster$%&*!

Where the library is. You wanna win or not?

There is still a library? What are they, place with a bunch of electrical outlets for recharging? Great place for the stadium.

Jokes aside, the UM Library is actually considered one of the most heavily used facilities on campus. I'd say it's more popular than the UC for social gathering.

PS - Even if we bulldozed the library, it still wouldn't work: 1) still not enough square footage for field/seats/concessions, 2) horrible location as the library is at the center of campus, not the edge of campus and 3) quite far from our athletic/training facilities and 4) you still run into a logistical nightmare for parking/traffic.

I really wish the "On Campus Stadium" discussions would end - it physically and logistically cannot happen. I've posted about it in the past and nothing has changed since then. The Dolphins ownership knows this and uses it against us all the time.

Besides, the Gables would never let us build one.
