Hmmm....could be something

I'd like to think Richt is smart enough not to hire someone whose defenses ranked in the 90s in each of the last two years to be a prominent member of his new defensive staff.

He's a **** good position coach and is well liked, hopefully it's that specific position and not DC. Too much smoke for him to not be coming here at this point. You don't just follow essentially 5 coaches from a university for you not to be going there

He makes $750k right now...

Hypothetically speaking, giving Corey Raymond a $90k-$100k pay bump to be our DB coach and "co-DC" as a complement to a proven savage coordinator s**** all over the option of paying Ward even half of what he was making at South Carolina to fulfill similar duties.

I don't believe that Muschamp will retain him

This, Miami should do all they can to get Corey Raymond from lsu, tremendous recruiter and coach. The best Db coach in the COUNTRY

The guy was Bud Foster's DB coach for a long time. A place that churns out productive DBs. and He ran the 4-2-5 at South Carolina which he learned from Foster and was good at it. A defense people think would work here. No real idea why he switched to a defense he had never run before. It was a disaster. No problem with him as a DB coach with a Co-DC title if it comes to it.

Im not as down as others are on him as DC..

when he had talent, his defense was effective and elite in a conference dominated by stout defenses..

Its south carolina -- its slim picking when it comes to talent.

Wasn't that the same reasoning many used with our last HC?

Not sure you can get him out LA unless you offer a D.C. position.

Agree. He's making great money at his Alma Mater - hard sell to come here and be Co-anything.

Stars obviously aren't everything, but 247's team talent composite has South Carolina with the 22nd most talent in the entire country. That's just two spots behind Miami, where we've witnessed world class underachieving due to atrocious coaching for the last several years.

2015 College Football Team Talent Composite

There are no excuses to have defenses ranked in the 90s in back-to-back years. They lost a transcendent college talent (Clowney) and saw their defense's productivity fall off a cliff.
