Hurricanes to add junior college DTs Calvin Heurtelou, Michael Wyche
by Matt Porter

ORLANDO — Defensive tackle has been a sore spot at UM for a couple seasons, both on the field and in the recruiting game. Two junior college big men, Calvin Heurtelou and Michael Wyche, hope they can help.
Heurtelou, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound sophomore at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College, told The Post he will sign with Miami on Thursday. Wyche (6-4, 340), who verbally committed to UM in October, said he faxed in his paperwork to UM. The school has not confirmed either signing.

It is interesting how recruiting works out. Heurtelou is not as **** of a pickup as Dixon. Yet 2 years from now we could look back on this moment and Heurtelou may have proven to be the better recruit as far as filling needs and on-field performance.

Have nothing to do with each other. Losing Dixon will always be losing Dixon. How we look back on it will depend on how his career plays out. Getting this kid is all about the next 2 years at DT and the staff doesn't have much choice at this point but to throw a lot of **** at the wall in the short term and see what sticks. TV Moten and Jenkins appear to be the future but we can't depend on them for the next 2 seasons till they grow.

Meh

Valentine and Moten are better even as high school seniors

Come on bruh.

Heurelou had some really good offers out there.

Mizzou (one of the best d-lines in the country), Tennessee, ASU, Auburn. This is a huge pickup. Especially considering he's gonna be able to help us next season.

Getting Heurelou in for the spring is huge, Olsen Pierre will finally have some real competition. Having a competitive spring is going to be huge for the development of this defensive line, this is amazing.

to me, kamalu after this off-season will be a much better player than people thought coming in.

he is 6'3, 305 and runs a sub 5.0 40 yard dash. at the very least, he is an athlete

Don't forget to add K-State, Bill Snyder has a great track record with JUCOs.

this means alot. it means courtel jenkins can redshirt. so unlike earl moore, he wont be pushed into action too soon, he will get in good shape and develop his skills.

Huge pickup if true, a juco defensive tackle that is relatively athletic. We need the bodies at DT hopefully one or two play blossom into quality players.. Does he arrive in Jan 2014??

3 years later....Golden has finally recruited some guys to play DT. Better late than never I guess.
