Hetherman had his roughest day at Miami

The nickel seems to be a big part of heathermans defense and we downgraded big time. Keionta Scott is way better in coverage than Thornton and is way better at tackling. He was the dude for us last year. Huge downgrade. And the injuries and the targeting have put Thornton at safety? Deep safety having to tackle as the last line of defense. The guy can’t cover and can’t tackle and doesn’t have range. No wonder Duce walked into the endzone

No comparison my guy
We had our safeties out……we all were watching the same game….I don’t know how you couldn’t notice that. He’s coaching with a depleted secondary
I love our fans…..not🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You're new, but post more
Apologies if I told you post less in the past
😂
But ppl forget we have a very depleted secondary.

But... Both things can be true, tho.

I was yelling at the screen all game that Heatherman had to quit it with the blitzes. Make Daniels throw and spy him - just not with Toure. Blitzing him gave him running lanes and pulled DBs out of position on the backend, like the Dunnigan blitz that lead to the TD, or the TD later where he played Fitzgerald as a single high safety, unable to cover the entire field.

Heatherman has done incredibly well since arriving....but this was not a good gameplan or in-game execution. The DB room is thin and the gameplan kept putting them at a disadvantage. Losing Poyser so early magnified things. If coaches don't think Miami could rush FSU without needing to blitz, there's much bigger issue come playoff time.

Based on snap counts, i think Wilson and Keona Davis need to play more snaps....unless coaches pulled some of Davis' snaps bc of the penalty. I also think we need more rotation at LB. Toure is a banger but he struggles in space.

The safety and nickel blitzes have become way too predictable. It isn't working.

Secondary is beat to ****, but this entire season we're seeing how big of a loss Bain and Mesidor were. Some thought we wouldn't see this big of a drop-off, but we most certainly are.

I don't know if people will like this, but at least with all of the injuries, we're a pretty average defense. At best we're better than average.

Bain, Mesidor, Keionte, Jakobe Thomas

4 really big losses

Its a lot easier to be a great DC when you have two first round picks up front. I dont think he has been that good this year, but he gets a bit of a pass because of the injuries, BUT only a bit.

@nvlahos just saw your post, same point.

Without a doubt. Norvell was a step ahead the entire night.
So they were at thier very best. Throw the kitchen sink at use. And we were at our worst and STILL got the W………

Our havoc rate has gone from 6th to 93rd this year. Sack/gm and pressure rate are just marginally worse than last year, so we just aren't creating non-sack TFLs, FFs, and PBUs like we did last year.

We miss Keionte Scott a ton. Hopefully Dunnigan can man the nickel spot the rest of the year with some Fitz sprinkled in. Thornton has a very high chaos rate. Too high

Thomas and Scott are the biggest losses. Yes Bain and Mesidor were first rounders but Lightfoot, Wilson, and Blount aren't a bad dropoff. Yes I know Wilson and Lightfoot didn't make their usual impact Saturday.

Were we doing something different with the ends? I cannot recall a game where they (no matter who) made such a minimal impact. That was the biggest surprise/disappointment for me.
