I have no sources on this, purely speculation.

But I don’t view Alonzo’s potential position as a carve out from the AD. But rather more of a supportive roll from a talent evaluation standpoint.

You could argue it’s too many cooks in the kitchen, but in this transfer age of CFB having a full time former nfl executive assisting with recruiting snd with transfers is a no brainer
 
I worked at Deloitte with Joe E. Good guy, smart as ****, and he’s a fixer of **** that breaks . Like most smart successful people , he’s good at surrounding himself with people whose expertise can be leaned upon . I have no idea how involved or final say he has in this process, but he’s the type of guy you’d want to call in to fix a broken process .

The UM football program has been one large broken process for over 20 years , so it should be a match .

Exactly what I read as well. That's EXACTLY what we need.

I'm sorry, Mario is better than Manny, but it's a **** of a price for a guy that is simply better than Manny. I want an Xs and Os coach that can kick the crap out of teams with our talent advantage AND with his coaching skills. If we are relying on out talenting people, we're going to fail miserably. If recruiting is his thing, I'll just remind you what Bobby Bowden said about great recruiters. They are known as great recruiters because they can recruit, but not coach. If they were a great coach, they'd be called a great coach.

I don't want the nepotism anymore. Yes, Mario would be an upgrade. No, he's not worth breaking the bank for. The only, ONLY reason they are willing to pay him so much is because he's one of their own. Is that really what we want? Haven't we learned anything?

Thank you for saying it out loud, literally thought the same thing. Utah is a really physical football team, maybe not win by 14 but they would've faired well in the ACC.

I know it!! They spend so much time trying to avoid pain, when the simple truth is - everything has pain waiting for you. So, they should choose their pain (in this case, the possibility of receiving negative press) and go with the choice that has the potential to yield the highest rewards.

I am assuming the vote was for the person, not approving the contract. Any idea on timeline for the contract and announcement if that's the case?

Possibly one oversees football, one oversees everything else? That would be interesting. Maybe Associate AD?

I think there are three groups here: One wants Tony, the other Jurich and the third needs to be convinced.

Given the ones who support one of the two guys are also the drivers in getting Mario...

This is backwards.

Miami has had four coaching searches in 15 years. We never went after the current coach of a high-end Power 5 program because it was unrealistic. We ended up going after coordinators, G5 coaches or recently fired coaches. The only reason a guy like Mario is realistic here is because of the Miami ties.
