Here's what I know

One more thing..for people clowning Mario that he cant win in a weak Pac 12..? Utah would have beat every team in the ACC running away this year and would have won every Coastal game by 2 TDs. Plus Mario has 2-3 conference titles the last time I checked while at Oregon..The level of talent that Mario will see in the ACC Coastal is such a joke that he could win it just off having top 5-10 recruiting classes every year. Now winning ACC and National titles is a different story. Will take more than just having talent.

I hate that 2-3 weeks ago Mario was the Gawd and now we as a fanbase are talking ourselves out of him being the answer here. I wish that Lane news never came up because now its poisoning the well to some degree. Few things to keep in mind:

If Mario is as smart as I think he is..he knows that he absolutely CANNOT inherit a QB that has a historical streak of 300 yards passing and 3 TDs and turn him into a 250 yard and 1 TD level QB due to his personal scheme and how he views the way an offense should be ran. He just cant be that dumb. I hope.

With so many high profile jobs opening..the dominoes will fall extremely fast after next Saturday. Teams like LSU, USC, etc have been very mum so that leads me to believe they already know who their choice is and will jump quick when the regular season is over to secure that person.

Lastly, to have Mario and Lane as our far and away top 2 choices (with both having legit interest it seems) is an unbelievably great problem to have and regardless of who is chosen, it will be a helluva holiday season to be a Cane fan. Cant wait!
So you mean after people started to actually look into his resume flaws started to emerge. If only the Columbus Crew was as thorough as some message board posters who watch college football and use google.

Sounds like the Columbus Illuminati have taken over the university to the point they're only willing to hire an AD with ties, a football czar with ties and HC with ties. Doesn't even sound like they're considering a second candidate. ******* mistake.

These men are all successful as fvck and they're not even going to look at a second HC option? They would interview multiple custodial companies to clean their offices. This is how you overlook better candidates.

The reality is that this is pretty common at big P5 schools. Look at lsu - think Woodward needs a search committee tell him who to hire? Nah, he had his sights set on Riley and he had a short list himself. Same thing happens when presidents/ADs at these big time schools - they know who they want to hire. Saban is another great example at bama - there was no search committee. And if option 1 doesn’t pan out, they have a short list. The search committee can help weed them out or facilitate meetings.

Given the state of Clemson this year, a competent head coach would have won the ACC with Miami's returning and young talent.

The same Utah team that lost to SDSt and BYU would beat *every* coastal team by 2 TDs? I'd take that bet.

HC with the most talented roster and most resources in the Pac12 losses to Stanford, boat raced by Utah when in the playoff hunt, has QB room problems = Miami number 1 target.

Can't make it up.
His record is 30-8 in full seasons. In the screwy COVID season, he won the conference.

He is 4-1 against Top 10 teams. In his three full recruiting classes, he finished 11, 7 and 6.

These are the numbers. Who is your candidate, and what is his resume?

You might be underestimating how a conservative corch can kill offensive talent and production.. There is a confidence that players get when they know they are put out there to light up scoreboards as compared to the oh lets not lose the game with turnover and let our talent try to overwhelm them offense..

Thats just me, Both have learned from school of saban but the game is offensive driven now, you better be able to light up scoreboards.. And how elite is Mario defenses in last few years? Atleast with Kiffin, you know one side of ball is in GREAT hands, offense will always be good, just have to get a DC..

With Mario, you have to always hit on OC and DC hires
You're looking at this too narrowly.

1. I have posted before that I have concerns that Mario wants to be "Saban-before-his-offensive-renaissance." However, anyone with half a brain has to see what Bama, Clemson, and OSU, etc. have consistently done on the offensive side of the ball to know that you can't win CFP games playing 24-13 contests. No good D is shutting down some of the elite offenses that we've seen the past several years.

2. I have no idea about Oregon's QB room and what's there and who he's recruited, but Anthony Brown is incredibly limited. We all know that. We've seen him play against us. TVD has more 300 yard games in his short stint this season than that kid has in 5 years. What I don't know is, is Cristobal limited by Brown or is that precisely who he is? Even if he's a dinosaur offensively (which I don't know to be true), I still don't think he can mess up TVD.

This is Miami, all of you should know Jurichs past is the hold up. There’s older Bot members concerned about that and other issues that happened on his watch while at UL. That’s the same reason some folks have doubts about Miami hiring Lane. There’s members that worry about the image of the program and are nervous about hiring anyone with some checkered pasts. The other group wants Jurich, most of those pushing for him are the same ones taking the program to the next level. That should tell you what group is pushing for the same ole typical hire.
So it's Jurich vs Hernandez basically? Any other candidate with a realistic shot at this point like Fravola, Brian White, or Pat Chun?

FWIW, Butch had a similar problem outside of Dorsey.

His QBs were Kenny Kelly, Ethenic Sands, Derrick Crudup and TJ Prunty.

Those of us who were on the boards for Butch remember that the same (valid) criticisms of Mario were there with Butch.
True. But if u remember, Dorsey ended up as quite the surprise, as well. No one was thinking that Dorsey was gonna be that dude. Much like Van Dymes.

If Mario can't find a good QB on the west coast then that's a **** problem. They grow QBs out there like SoFla grows DBs

Are you hearing anything about coordinators if Mario comes? Obviously, his current O system doesn't work, so is there a negotiation on Mario's approach to the O?

When I tried to say this about Lane, the Lane Train's collective head blew up.
