Here's what I know on Mark Matthews...

Seems like everyone has him circled in for A&M, but I would have to think the longer this drags out, the better for us? Agent driving up the price?

DMoney has a good point that 5 star tackles have a good shot of being a 1st round pick. I'd guess around 2/3rds end up being so. The hyperbole is comparing them to a hall of fame player because the reality is most of the 5 star tackles suck. They get drafted on measurables but do nothing in the NFL. In fact when you look at the current NFL tackles that project to Hall of Fame status, none were 5 stars. Tristan Wirfs and Pennei were 4 stars and Lane Johnson and Trent Williams were no stars. Although Williams was a low 3 star guard with some services but 0 stars from 247.

He's denser. As a previous comment noted, Matthews need to fill out and gain strength. I thought Matthews' lower half was downright skinny.

Where Olu is built for the bully game. Olu comes up on contact more than I'd like, and doesn't have the hip flexibility to slide his hips back on contact (think of hinging on a squat). He's much more heavy footed than Matthews (everyone is).

His grip strength is better. He is meaner in his finishing on the LOS (like I mentioned, Matthews likes to finish second level guys).

I only watched one full game of Olu for the segment (vs. Don Bosco) and his camps (Penn State camp in particular).

Olu is a more versatile player in that I think he could be a very good guard.

My ultimate projection for Olu is at RT and think he's a Mauigoa archetype (Mauigoa was a better prospect overall to my eyes, but he played at IMG and most likely received superior coaching there).

All HS OL have tons of things to work on. Hand usage, controlling wrists, understanding leverage, biggest threat/first threat etc.

Olu is a great prospect. Worthy of much hype. I just have Matthews in a tier above.
We need a RT no? Seems a good fit.

A lot of people when we miss our top targrt immediately fall back to their belief that outliers are common and that it’s ok to keep getting your second choice because they’ll point to the outliers again, I would love to see how these people invest
