Herbstreit said #2 Miami losing to #3 Clemson would not drop

So, here's a thought, Bama loses to Auburn...then what?

Miami is #1 seed in the playoffs after we beat Clemson.
We play Bama in the semi's.

OU would play Auburn.

Auburn gets in over 2 loss OSU and Clemson.

Miami/Oklahoma in Atlanta.

The pieces move after the Big 10 Championship.

If Wisky is undefeated everything else falls into place, if they lose to Ohio State and Auburn wins the SEC theres some big time chaos.

Really hope players aren’t hearing “hey we can lose a game and still get in.” Would be the worst thing to happen

So this argument was being made a few weeks ago, and I did not agree. At that time I didn't think people were buying into Miami enough to keep us in the top 4 with a loss. Glad to see I was wrong. Now let's take care of business in Pittsburg and see what's up.

Oh, and I think it's important to understand that we probably can't absorb a loss to Pitt. You can lose a game like that early (Clemson), but not the last game. This one's real important.

Assuming Auburn beat UGA again which is never easy

Unless Alabama is absolutely throttled in the Iron Bowl they won't fall past #3 . They're going to the Sugar Bowl one way or another.

That scenario ends with Miami vs. Georgia/Auburn and Alabama vs. Oklahoma.

However if UGA wins the SEC and Wisconsin goes undefeated I think that's the only scenario where Alabama gets pushed out.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is I’m a firm believer that ESPN wants us in the playoffs and I use the ratings of the last two games and gameday to support that. How much pull and influence do they actually have remains to be seen, but I’ve now seen more than one writer mention Miami is must see TV and “fun” to watch.

cliffnotes version of all this: everyone needs to win out except Clemson and Wisky. We can either get in straight up, or through the back door this way.
F@ck that I rather have Wisconsin in the Playoffs than Ohio Taint. I hate those ******** more than any other team in the land! I hate urban Meyer, I hate everything Cleveland since that dreadful National Title snub. I’ve been a Canes fan since I learned and understood what football was at 5 years old and I will never forgive that they did to the Canes! They robbed them of Glory, history **** I’m getting emotional f@ck the suckeyes we ain’t losing!!!

These kids aren’t just going to forget about having the media **** on them all year.

If nothing else I think this motivates them now that they see people finally trying to jump on the bandwagon.

Moving us to #2 this week just proves what a joke the whole thing is. Last week we weren’t better than Clemson but after a dogfight with UVA we are? **** of committee. **** all the way off.

After we beat Pitt and Auburn beats SATAN next week Canes will be #1 then we bich slap dabo all over Charlotte

Canefan79 smacks his girlfriend, and runs out the room crying every time there's a Herbstreit thread.

To be 100% Honest. Miami would be #1 If we blew out the teams we were suppose to. Alabama's resume is comparable to Wisconsin IMO. Alabama is #1 based on reputation. I think the committee can't get over the GT game (even though we spotted GT 7 points) and the UNC game (understandably so). I think Clemson has the best resume in terms of wins but Miami is right there and we're undefeated just not consistently dominate.

I’m fully expecting the same committee to possibly value a South Carolina “rivalry” win as better than a “Pitt” win...vaulting 1-loss Clemson (the 1-loss is silent!) above Miami again.

11-0!

Go Canes

lets just beat clemson.

It seems they are **** bent on getting oklahoma in which isnt fair to wisconsin.

We need to beat Clemson. Only way to make sure obviously. If we lose, it must be a really close one or else we know how the college football world hates us.

Go Canes

Hope you are right. I would rather the team be mad than smiling in the mirror. Either way, this team has proven it can win even if it does not play its best. ND showed what happens when that play good - slaughter. This is a team like the old Cane teams and is bringing home the hardware.
