Hats Off To The S&C Progrum

S&C is not why we can’t tackle and look the way we do.

We’re recruiting 210 pound DEs, 195-205 pound LBs, 160 pound corners. Converting 5’10 205 pound safeties to LB.

You cant hang with Bama without beating them schematically unless you can hang in the trenches with them. OL and a big front 7

Height and weight isn’t the only thing that matters but look at our classes compared to teams that are dominating. Star ratings aside.. we’re recruiting small. We’re small across the board. Light in the ***.

We recruit soft players and we have soft coaches

Agreed. It's us still holding onto the 1980s adage that a 250 lb guy is a DT in our program. That's the dark ages. We've got to recruit bigger, stronger guys who are also fast who don't need 2-3 years of S&C before they can contribute.

We need Year 1 - Year 2 contributors; not 3 year projects who only turn out to be jags.

Funny nobody was complaining about S&C last year. Had JPhillips and QRoche so well conditioned that they were playing every minute of some games and never got gassed. Esp in the VTech game. How about we start sending Feeley more 5* types like JPhillips and you will see the results.

It's the players who we target. I'm sure those bama players would look the same here. And if they want everyone bulked up some frames can't handle it....u recruit explosive players with those frames who can add and keep that explosiveness. That's the difference between AA and ordinary players

I’m not defending or saying Feely is the man or anything, just saying the criteria people are using to bash S&C is old and tired

We’ve been hearing it for like 15+ years you think that’s a coincidence or is it related to our downfall on a coaching/talent level

Blaming S&C is a red herring

I’ll give you an example where size isn’t a determining factor. UVA’s RB and Cam are the same size. That UVA kid is a bowling ball and Cam can’t run through grass over 4 inches tall. Cam may look huge without a shirt on, but his functional strength is below average.

This is a bigger issue than the S&C program.

There’s no SandC without culture. Dudes are allowed to balloon up to 400lb and still play. No ones accountable for even their weight
