Has Mario lost the support of the big money donors

So its all on Mario cause he cant get every kid to come here ? 🤣 if u were a recruit u choosing us over uga, bama, ohio state if money is close to the same ?
Just saying he’s not the recruiting god people made him out to be when we hired him. If he can’t bring in the superstars what exactly can he do well? He’s one of the worst gameday coaches I’ve ever seen and he can’t seem to get many of the most critical hires correct.

I think we have all overrated Mario as a recruiter. If you go back and look at his Oregon classes from 2018-2021 they are pretty underwhelming. I would say he has recruited better at Miami than Oregon especially 2023 and his best class of 2024.
When he was at Bama with the bags and SEC logo it was pretty easy.

He has his most talented and balanced team at Miami this year and if his DC is not a total joke as the previous one he should do well this football season. Of course schedule is tougher.

I think someone said recently that Mario and his staff feel like they are getting everyone and are very positive which is why we feel disappointed as July unfolds the last two cycles. They are either delusional or arrogant.

Moving forward it might be wise for us to enter July with some built in pessimism when insiders are telling us how well we are going to do since their sources are the Miami staff.

I give Mario credit he is at least battling the big boys for elite players.

Not buying that. The whole narrative this whole recruiting cycle is we have F U money, now we’re broke and investors pulled out ?? So they were cool with spending money after the late szn collapse to bring in a whole entire secondary and pay top dollar for Cantwell but now all of a sudden they wanna pull out 😂😂😂😂

Only the 2nd 10 win season for the program since 2003. We're not recruiting top 3 every year, but hes been doing something right.

That was almost entirely due to Cam Ward. We can't expect our annual portal QB to have that type of season every year. We'll see if Beck comes close.

Cam could've came in and had UGA receivers or his Washington St O-Line. It was the #1 offense for a reason. It was the team that Mario built that allowed Cam to win more games than he did at any other stop

I opened this thread thinking there was going to be some kind of news bombshell. Of course it’s not.

Kids pick schools based on three major factors. First is NIL. They want to get paid. Second and third are pro potential/winning championships. The only one of those three where Miami is competitive with the big names is money. Miami has to outbid everyone because they can’t offer anything else besides promises. Miami made some improvements with the draft this year. Mario’s first full class becomes draft eligible after this season. We’ll see if they keep making progress there.

As for winning. We’re not even close to the teams we compete against for recruits. A single 10-3 Pop Tarts bowl season isn’t “winning”. Not compared to playoff and national championship contenders. Miami finished 18th in the AP poll last year. After 5-7 and 7-6 seasons. 22-16 is not “winning” you’re not competing with Texas, Georgia and Ohio State when you’re 6 games over .500.

This year will be the make or break season for the program. Miami has to win. And I don’t mean “10-3 Pop Tart Bowl win“. They need to at least play in the ACC championship game and that will likely get them a playoff spot. No losing to Syracuse and Georgia Tech. Miami has to make a difference in the draft. Carson Beck regaining first round status would reaffirm that Miami is indeed a place for quarterbacks. Francis Mauigoa going early will cement Mario’s reputation with linemen. Ruben Bain going early will solidify the rep on the defensive line. These guys have to maximize their potential and it’s up to the staff to get them there.

If there’s another 9-4 10-3 season with amother mid tier bowl game, it’s time to throw in the towel on the program getting where they need to be. There’s only so much money they can throw at kids to be at a second tier ACC program.

Woah. Slow down. I read @DMoney’s posts the other day. Basically, we’re doing well with national kids who are not as intimately familiar with the program’s failures of the last 2 decades as compared with local kids who are. I don’t think it has anything to do with money or NIL.

They are Miami with more money. They have to overpay for everyone. They’ve also had more recent draft success than Miami.
Yes but you said wins and making the playoffs was whats important to these kids. 🤷‍♂️

Still wish we would have gotten Lane. I will give props where it's due that Mario has killed it in recruiting despite mediocre on field results, but at some point, we have to win on the field, and he's been lacking there.
Why do the Kiffin people not understand the University will NEVER hire him? I enjoy him, too. He can be pure entertainment. But he isn’t representative of the U iveraity’s image
