Has Mario lost the support of the big money donors

Very little, but he's flashy and obnoxious and for a somewhat football illiterate fanbase that falls in love with anything shiny, he looks the part. We're talking about the same group of people that thought that Mike Leach(RIP) was a championship level coach. Mike and Lane are very, very good coaches, IN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES, but you aren't winning titles or competing for championships with them at the helm. Their quirks and inattention to large segments of roster construction and complementary football precludes them from ever building a team that can compete with elite programs.
Oh, I agree 💯 with you! Lane or leach(rip) doesn't have enough outside of coaching offense to be coach here! We wouldn't have depth or enough good players on defense .

There are some really dumb ppl on this board.

Miami spends plenty. More than Miami ever has on their current roster and in recruiting. Yet you want to post asking is Miami broke because they didn’t land top 10 players in the country that every other top tier program is after.

Yall want the top players and then cry if Mario can’t land every single one of them. Yall ain’t built for this recruiting **** and probably need to just log off until the season starts.

More games than us in a significantly harder conference. Double-digit wins the last 2 years in the SEC with wins over playoff teams. Mario had his moment in the Pac, but the PAC wasn't that much better than the ACC and it took a Cam ward type of player just get double digit wins.

Oh you mean a top QB makes a difference. Shocked I tell you.

You realize lane had a 1st rd qb as well.

Mario and lane are similar in terms of their career peak. Not sure either ever wins the big one.

Mario recruits better but Lane has done well keeping kids from the south home and hitting the portal. Lane is a better offensive coach by far but both of them lose games they shouldn’t.

Mario can recruit much better. Thats your trade off.

To me, it certainly feels like this is what happened and UM no longer has the ability to outbid others. And If I am correct, then it certainly would mean that UM has peaked, or will peak this season, but does not have a sustainable model.

I would love for our insiders to be honest with the rest of us as to why UM seemingly does not have the financial ability to compete at the very highest level (top 5).

I love UM football, but if we are a second tier football program then let’s be honest about it. Let’s be Louisville, or Maryland, and embrace who we are. Or better yet, let’s be Duke and stop squandering our limited resources on football and focus on basketball and baseball wehre those funds could be moire effective. What I am tired of being is a program that acts like it should be in the top 5, but can’t spend as needed to be in the top 5. We will become, if we are not already, the last ones to know that the joke is on us.
At some point you have to consistently perform. Donars back Mario, but this is the biggest year of his career. Things can get ugly if we fall flat.

No! Mario is deep sea fishing. He got the right bait, but unfortunately he using freshwater equipment. You ever see what a big *** saltwater fish will do to a freshwater hook, rod, and reel? Break all that **** and Straighten that hook out like an arrow, lol. What i mean is that we got the money…. we gotta show something on the field. Some of dese schools we are up against got both. We’re basically asking kids to “give us a chance”, when other schools got tangible proof that they can win big AND get kids to the next level. When you fishing against the big boys, you gotta have the right bait, and the right equipment. We getting there. We will land some good players, but we gotta show more if we gonna waltz into SEC territory and walk out with prized recruits.
Well slap me and call me Ishmael!

I think that's fair. I think Lane teams typically perform better on the field and could pull enough talent to Miami. Ole Miss is competitive in the SEC, and their 3 losses were 13 combined, one in OT to LSU, and a meltdown from their QB against UF. The season before, only losses to UGA and Bama. I don't know if he's good enough to take us all the way, but I think he'd win enough to keep us in the picture. I fear if Mario doesn't hit the HR transfer QB every year, we fall back to a 7-8 win team since there's been no sign of successful development yet. Those booster funds may eventually pull back, and recruiting will take the hit. No wins and no recruiting and we're spiraling.

This isn't necessarily a I want Mario gone feeling. I think he's put us on the right path and support what he's done to rebuild the program. Looking closer, they aren't that far apart. I just think Lane would have been a better fit than people think. Last season is such a big what if because of our defense, and I know personally, it really hurt my outlook with Mario. Let's hope it gets fixed this year, and that will restore a lot of the Mario good faith.

Or he’s planning on putting more money towards transfers than other schools.

This is entirely possible. Every school has a budget and it maybe that UM’s budget skews more heavily towards the Portal. And certainly Carson Beck had to take up a pretty big part of the budget, even if the rumors of what he is making are inflated. Not ot mention all the DB’s, WR’s and other positions UM hit hard in the portal.
