Has Dee Delaney destroyed his NFL dreams by coming to Miami?

I told yall boys after the bethune game this was not a one time thing.....the boy is doo doo.. Dean is a better cover corner but he is soft as baby **** and cant tackle...WE ****ed boys...this is what happens when you have a DB coach who cant recruit Tyler Byrd and CJ henderson...this Citadel junkie should have never been on our team, and I hate to say this about a cane but it is what it is.

Never to worry tho he's gonna make a ****** inteception against some team and the cane slurpers will hop back on his dyck with the I told you so and how im not a real canes fan

When it was down to him and Baker-Sims to come I wanted Bake. Sure he had injury issues, but at least he played at Clemson and had faced D1 talent. He played again FSU, Bama, and everyone else. If you are taking a chance thats the guy you want, not some dude from Citadel playing against Charleston Southern, East Tenn. St., and some random d2/fcs school. SMH

We'll still beat FSU's team of 5*s even without having Tennessee's third string WR playing corner.

We better, if we cant beat them this year....

I don't know what was worse. His play or the fact that the staff didn't get him out of the game!

Watching Delaney flailing all over the field has me longing for the days of Mike Williams and Lee Chambers. Even Nick Ward would be an upgrade.

I agree with k9cane when he said it's time to ride with our 4 best athletes in the secondary regardless of class. I say roll with Young and Bandy at CB and Carter and Knowles at safety. Jaquan Johnson is just not good enough to be the starting FS at UM point blank plain and simple and I'm sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings. JJ should be used like he was used last year. His lack of speed is severely hampering us. He has no range. He is a nice utility type player that is best used in a manner that does not completely expose his weaknesses like he is being used now. He can best contribute as a nickel specialist. Redwine is the definition of JAG. Nothing personal but he just doesn't make plays and is not a UM caliber safety. Amari Carter needs to seize the opportunity to take that spot and not give it back.

It is strikingly apparent that the secondary is the weak link on this team. It is the last position group left to be upgraded and does it show. It's no coincidence that we have one of the best DB classes in recent memory in position to sign. Those 2018 DBs we are trying to bring in are most definitely Miami caliber talent. In the meantime it would appear that this secondary will keep this defense from being the suffocating unit we had envisioned in the offseason. My hope is that we see major improvement as the year goes on but I'm not unrealistic. That improvement will have to come from the kids that have the potential to blossom. Bandy, Young, Carter, Knowles, Smith and maybe Dean come to mind. We'll see.

Agree with most of what you wrote but I'm not sure Carter can play much either. He can hit but needs to hold receivers or he'll give up big plays all day.

Ok, so he came to the Miami Hurricanes. As our team is coming back up and getting their foothold in competition. Next step of pro football. These same teammates also trying and he's getting overtaken by other brothers that are just as hungry with the same Talent?

We do not owe him anything but opportunity to excel.

Carter was lost when he was out there. Granted Diaz has put the DBs in an impossible position to succeed.

The DB talent isn't strong but someone like JJ needs to start on this team, no idea why he's drawing your ire. This is starting to sound similar to the Golden days when everyone ripped Chick and others when they were put in impossible spots.

Good points. Allow me to clarify my position. First off I agree with your assessment in that Diaz is putting his secondary in very poor position to succeed. Since it is obvious that our secondary is struggling mightily in coverage it would stand to reason that Diaz would go out of his way to protect them. We should see the LBs dropping into coverage much more while putting the pressure on our most talented unit the front four. Instead Diaz seems to think that his erratic and poorly conceived blitz packages will reduce the burden on the secondary but it is doing the exact opposite.

Now with regards to Jaquan Johnson, it is nothing personal as I have a good amount of respect for the kid. JJ has his positive attributes in that he always plays hard, has a great football IQ and the insticts to go with that. The problem is that as a DC you must recognize that JJ also has his limitations and those particular limitations(speed, range...) are not conducive to playing the role that he has been asked to play thus far. I don't think JJ has drawn my ire. I just think that he is much better suited to play a specific complementary role. I agree that he should play but I just don't care for him in the role of the single high safety. He needs to be a nickel specialist and there is no shame in that.

I noticed Robert Knowles early on in the game. I don't know if you remember it but there was a play early on where he came up from his safety position to make a tackle on a screen pass and Knowles looked like he was shot out of a cannon. In that one play RK flashed the athleticism and explosiveness that we have been sorely missing in this secondary. The question with Knowles is how consistent can he be. To me the best way to fully develop a kid is to get them live reps. I just don't think we have seen him get enough of them.

As far as Amari Carter is concerned the kid is a true freshman so it should come as no surprise that he looks lost at times especially against a potent spread attack like Toledo. To me the difference is that Carter has the tools to develop into a very good SS type here so I would much rather go through the growing pains with a kid like Carter than go through a year of mediocre play from Redwine with only the prospect of marginal improvement. Maybe I'm wrong and Redwine grows by leaps and bounds throughout the season but I just don't see it.

On one particular play I remember seeing Knowles diagnose a play quickly and putting a hard hit on a receiver. It was a completion but it looked promising

Honestly, our entire secondary looks slow. They say Malek Young is suppose to be a blazer but I just don't see anyone who speed pops out . We need Tyson Campbell bad.

It has been two games.
One of which was after a long layoff due to a natural disaster.
Call me crazy if I say the sample size is way too small and we should be a bit more patient.
