The problem with Gattis is the incredible year over year downfall.Stick around.
I recall - Clappy. Then Radar. Then Golden. Dorito - he was BAD. And that doesn't count other assistants, coordinators, AD's, University Presidents on and on, and on.
Oh.
And it was all justified!
People forget that D-No's defense wasn't that bad in 2011; Randy had left Golden with a decent amount of talent - many of them veterans - that year. There was heavy attrition that offseason and our blue chip ratio fell to historic lows. That combined with freshmen trying to adhere to "exotic" schemes led to a disastrous 2012, before there was some recovery in 2013.
Just about anyone could give Nix a pass in 2007. He took over an offense that had six wide receivers. Aside from running a triple option, there isn't that much you can do when you start the year with that few players at a key position.
Gattis took over an offense that was fairly prolific in 2021, and was thought to have plenty of blue chip talent ready to fill the gaps left Rambo and Harley. Instead we ended up with the worst offense in Miami history, ten months after we had one of the more prolific offenses in recent memory.
