The reality is that if you have the kid in a captured environment, provide academic support and THE KID STUDIES HARD, then you can get through college. Football and The U provided that environment for him.I saw that he graduated. Not too shabby to graduate from an institution like Miami for a kid that barely got in. Goes to show you football does good in a lot of kids lives!
Glad to hear this young man succeed. This right here is why I hate the discussion that they should pay players and do away with the scholarships. Very few athletes ever get to the pros, but at the end of the day, they can walk away with a college education from a place they otherwise would have no shot at getting into. Replacing the scholarship system would hurt so many of these kids futures.
this right here makes his time a UM a success. This is a local success story. This program may have changed his life(and lets give him credit, he put in the work).
Here's hoping he can contribute a few plays this upcoming season and leave with some memories.
